SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE BEGINS SUNDAY. We will have one service each Sunday at 9:00 A.M. This provides us with a special median hour for worship and gathers the whole family of St. John’s together at one time. One service at 9:00 A.M. will continue through September 6. Plan now to worship at St. John’s at 9:00 A.M. each Sunday you are available. Today’s service will be a Service of the Word.

THE 28TH ANNUAL RINGER SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded Sunday morning during the service to the following students who will be attending college in the fall:  Taylor Lyon, Grady Neward, Colby Rehrig, Emma Snyder, and Ariana Williams.

END-OF-YEAR PICNIC – Join us as we once again come together to enjoy the End-of-the-Year Picnic from 10:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Sunday. The picnic is open to all students, their families, and all members of the congregation. The Catering Committee is providing grilled marinated chicken breast sandwiches; cheese steaks with sauce & toppings; hot dogs with all the fixings; baked macaroni & cheese; assorted sodas, water, coffee, tea, and flavored iced tea. The food and fellowship activities will be held in the Fellowship Hall in the air conditioning. Activities will be held outside and will include games, contest, face painting, and more.

SHARON IS ON VACATION through Tuesday, June 23. The church office will be open some during Sharon’s absence. The phones will be monitored also during her vacation time.

BREAKFAST BUNCH BEGINS TOMORROW We will again host the Breakfast Bunch this summer to feed the local children while school is out for the summer. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday, June 15-August 21, from 8:00 to 10:00 A.M. You can volunteer one day this summer, one day per week, one week this summer, or however it works for your schedule. Volunteer duties include: registration table, pouring juice and milk, working the toaster/toaster oven, making sandwiches, keeping food refilled on the buffet line, and clean-up. If you can help, sign up on the calendar at the rear of the church, call the church office at 610-767-6361, or email us at stjohnslatington@gmail.com. Monetary donations or gift cards to groceries stores in the Lehigh Valley are always appreciated.

FOOD DONATIONS for Breakfast Bunch and/or Weekend Bunch are listed in the summer newsletter and on sheets in the back of church. Any donations are welcome and appreciated.

THRIVENT GRANTS – Any Thrivent member planning to use their yearly $250 grant for Breakfast Bunch, we are asking you to apply by the end of June. The gift cards are only good for 120 days and if we receive them late in the program, it is difficult to fully use your generous gift. When ordering the t-shirts that come along with the grant, please order a variety of sizes (youth small to adult 3X). Thank for helping us feed God’s children.

EAT ICE CREAM on June 25! Drizzle Ice Cream at 5040 Route 873, Schnecksville will donate 15% of all sales on Thursday, June 25, from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 P.M. to the Breakfast Bunch.

THANK YOU to everyone who donated jello, juice boxes, and pudding for the food bank summer food packs. We collected between 150 and 164 of each item needed. Thank you also to Brian and Debbie Geiger for delivering the items to the food bank!

SECOND CHANCE SHOPPE NEEDS HELP! As you all know, the Second Chance Shoppe contributes money to St John's but also to many non-profit organizations in the area. Last year alone the board of directors donated $46,592.75 because of the hard work of our dedicated volunteers. But more important than the monetary donations the Shoppe provides clothing, toys, household items, and seasonal decorations at prices families in need in our community can afford.

However, we have hit a bump in the road where quite a few of our weekly volunteers are unable to help due to illnesses or because they are caregivers. We are asking the parishioners of St. John's to consider donating a few hours of time to help this community outreach program. Tuesday through Friday we have three-hour shifts and Saturday a four-hour shift. Board members or seasoned volunteers will help you acclimate to the routine of the Shoppe.

If you have any questions or want to join our group of volunteers, please contact officers Debbie Geiger at 484-241-0402 or Nancy Rehrig at 610-428-2579. Thank you in advance for considering how you might use your hands to do God's work. Volunteering will enable us to continue doing God's work in our community which began 62 years ago.

SPONSORS NEEDED – for the following dates this summer:

Flowers for July 5 & 19; and August 2, 23, & 30.

Bulletins for July 5, 12, 19, & 26 and August 2 & 16.

Sign up for any open dates on the sponsor charts on the bulletin board outside the church office or call the church office at 610-767-6361. The cost to sponsor flowers is $35.00. The cost to sponsor bulletins is $25.00.

MEDICAL DEBT RELIEF CAMPAIGN – Love Your Neighbor Churches and Friends are partnering with Undue Medical Debt this summer to raise $21,000 and abolish $3 million of medical debt in our region. Medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. People with medical debt are three times more likely to experience mental health burdens. Undue Medical Debt is a national nonprofit that acquires medical debt belonging to those least able to pay in large, bundled portfolios for pennies on the dollar, while also shining a light on the broken system that creates medical debt. On average, $1 donated erases $100 of medical debt. To learn more or to donate you can donate to any of the churches involved including St. John’s Lutheran or donate directly to the campaign at https://unduemedicaldebt.org/campaign/love-your-neighbor-churches-friends/ If you have questions, please contact Rev. Kris Snyder at Union UCC, Neffs at pastorkis@unionucc.org or at 610-767-6961 or speak to Pastor Hahn. There are signs with more information on the bulletin boards also.

CHRIST IN YOUR HOME booklets for July through September can be picked up on the rear windowsills.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – This year’s Vacation Bible School (“VBS”) theme is “Rainforest Falls – Exploring the Nature of God.” Bible School will be held Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. VBS is for children age 3 (by July 1) up to and including Grade 6. To make this VBS a great experience for our children, we still need of a leader for Kindergarten, a leader for Pre-school, along with helpers for the Pre-school, Kindergarten, and the Grades 1-3 classes. Please sign up at the rear of the church, in the Fellowship Hall, or at the Parent Information Center in the Sunday School hallway. All help is appreciated. This Vacation Bible School promises to be a wonderful experience. Please join us! If you have any questions, please see Ruthann Mantz or Debbie Cunfer.

VBS FOOD NEEDS – Please look for the display at the back of church for foods and paper products needed for Vacation Bible School. Donations can be dropped off in the church office marked “VBS”.

MOVING HELP – The carpeting in the church, church office, pastor’s office, and the education building will be cleaned this August. Help is needed to move furnishings: tables, chairs, rolling cabinets, coat racks, etc. Work parties will be held on Saturday, August 1, 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon; Saturday, August 8, 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon; and Sunday, August 16, after the 9:00 A.M. service. Breakfast, drinks, and snacks

will be provided. Even if you can only help for an hour, your time will be greatly appreciated! Please sign up at the rear of the church or call the church office at 610-767-6361.

2026 ENVELOPES are in the Fellowship Hall on a cabinet near the front steps for pick-up. The offering envelopes are expensive to mail so please go to the Fellowship Hall after church to pick up your envelopes or those of a friend, neighbor, or relative.

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM – We are in need of more volunteers to assist with worship services and in different ministries around the church. There is a physical registration form located on the ushers’ table at the back of the sanctuary. You're invited to look at the list of volunteer opportunities and consider which roles are of most interest to you. If you have children or grandchildren in the congregation, please see the special section with volunteer opportunities for our youngest members. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the physical form and return it to the church office or sign-up online by clicking the button below. If you have any questions or would like more information, please email the church at stjohnslatington@gmail.com.

CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDED – Second Chance Shoppe needs your assistance. Have your children, or are your children outgrowing their clothing? Do you have extra clothes in your wardrobe? If so, please consider donating the clothing to “The Second Chance Shoppe”. We are in need of adult and children’s clothing. Since Kmart closed their doors, it is difficult for families to shop close to home. Thank you in advance for your help with clothing donations.

ALUMINUM TABS that are collected here at St. John’s benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children which provides free medical care. No child is turned away because of the inability to pay at a Shriners Hospital. If you know of a child that needs medical care, contact any Shriner for more information. Thank you and continue to bring the tabs to St. John’s for pick up. Clarence Smith collects the tabs for the Shiner’s Hospital.

PLEASE CALL the church office (610-767-6361) whenever a family member, neighbor, or friend who is a member of St. John’s is hospitalized or moves from one hospital to another. Please give our church code “290” to the local hospitals when being admitted. As the two hospital systems have grown, when Sharon calls with our church code, most times we are told no one is hospitalized under our code, even though sometimes we have parishioners in the hospital. Hospitals do NOT notify the church; we will only get information if you call us. Please tell us if you wish to have your name excluded from publication. We will maintain people recently in the hospital on the list or those dealing with long-term health issues.
