One of your favorite Sunriver winter past times is back! Ice skating at The Village At Sunriver will require reservations so please check out their site and make yours today! We invite you to nominate YOUR Oregon hero for a complimentary 2-night stay at Sunriver Resort by filling out the entry form here Over the last year, Oregonians across the state have made an indelible mark on their communities, with so many working selflessly to support and care for others. To honor Oregon’s community heroes, Sunriver Resort is giving away 10 complimentary two-night stays every week for 10 weeks as part of its “For the Love” campaign. Follow along as winners will be announced every Wednesday through April 21, 2021.
The High Desert Museum has Reopened
We are thrilled to announce that our indoor exhibits have reopened. From original exhibits Daredevils and Dam It! Beavers and Us to the Birds of Prey Center and Autzen Otter Exhibit, you'll find wonder around every corner. Capacity remains limited. We highly recommend that you reserve your timed entry tickets. Time your visit right and you'll be able to take part in engaging programs! 
-Visit the 1904 Miller Family Ranch and chat with Mrs. Miller and Amy about keeping the ranch warm in winter. Open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
-Get beak-to-beak with a raptor at the Bird of Prey Encounter daily at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Discover how to identify these aerial predators and how we can ensure their future in the High Desert.
Both programs are free with Museum admission and weather permitting. Open daily from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Choose from a variety of private experiences guided by SNCO's naturalists and astronomers. We will work with you to schedule your program and customize it for your family's interests.
Public Programs
-Thurs., Feb. 18 at 7 pm and 8:30 pm: Mission to Mars. Come join Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory for a special talk on Mars, including nighttime viewing, as we celebrate the landing of the Mars Perseverance Rover and Mars Ingenuity Helicopter on the Red Planet. 
Raptor Tour: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 11am'. Reservations recommended.
Observatory Nighttime Visits: Wednesday and Saturday: 7pm or 8:30 pm. Reservations required.
Family Birding: Saturday: 10 am. Reservations recommended..
Observatory Daytime Visit: Friday and Saturday 11am - 2pm. Drop in visits welcome (weather permitting) or reserve a private program.
Virtual Lectures
-Wed., Feb. 24 at 6 pm: Species Back from the Brink of Extinction. Margaret Smith, Executive Director of The Trumpeter Swan Society, will share the amazing story of the return of Trumpeter Swans to North America and the key players in their return. SNCO
-Thur., Feb. 25 at 7 pm: Einstein, Eddington, and the Challenges of Observational Astronomy. Paul Poncy, observatory staff astronomer, recaps his trip to Chile for the 2020 Eclipse. SNCO
Sunriver Library
The Library is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 6 pm. Face coverings are required for staff and customers over the age of five. Visits are limited to 30 minutes per customers per day.
What is available: Browsing & checking out books, movies & more, public computers.
Free: printing, copying, faxing & scanning.
Young Artist Scholarship Program
Young Artists Scholarship applications open now through April 15th. To qualify, students must perform at an advanced level, be a permanent resident of Central Oregon, aspire to a career in classical music and major in music. It is open to ages 11-24 through one masters degree. For details and requirements Click Here

Big Bleu’s Supper Club
On Fri. Feb. 26 and Sat. Feb. 27, dine out under the stars in our private courtyard, covered with a tall tent top! Super unique experience designed to make your evening fun and comfortable, featuring individual table top mini fire pits, table side heaters for each guest table, along with cozy fleece blankets and hand warmers. Hot beverage included with each dinner to cap off a toasty evening. Limited seating of 8 tables spaced 6’ apart. Reservations required for courtyard dining under the stars. Take out orders gladly accepted

La Pine Frontier Days Annual Crab Feed
The 19th annual crab feed will take place at the La Pine Senior Activity Center on Sat., March 13 from noon to 6 pm. Seating is limited, but a "take-out" option is also avialble. The cost is $45 per person and tickets must be purchased by March 5.
Tickets can be purchased at the La Pine Frontier Days, the La Pine Chamber of Commerce and La Pine Ace Hardware. You can also email to info@lapinefrontierdays.org or call 541-5236-7821. There will be no tickets sold at the door.
Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce Hosts Social Media Spring Checkup
Is your social media boosting your business? Do you have questions on how to improve your social media to attract more followers? Wondering how to create meaningful, yet creative content?
The answers to these questions and more can be found at the Social Media Spring Checkup. The Sunriver Chamber of Commerce has invited three communications experts to assist you in making certain your social media and website are in tiptop shape.
The guest speakers are:
·       Anne Marie Daggett, president of the marketing department,
·       Kaili Irvin, general manager of the Alpine Entertainment, and
·       Katie Johnson, communications manager for Central Oregon Visitors Association.
They will address how to start building your social media, basic and simple strategies for creating content, the importance of voice and messaging, staying true to your brand, avoiding overselling, building a trusted community, the need for an online presence and how to attract millennials.The free Zoom meeting begins at noon, Tuesday, March 2. A Tourism Outlook for 2021
"On a regional level, the tourism outlook has been less bleak than the national forecast. Consumer interest in road trips and visiting resorts, mountain towns and destinations with less density have been impacted to a lesser degree. Destinations like Central Oregon have attracted an increasing number of visitors choosing a road trip for a safe getaway during the pandemic while air travel has been down". Read fully story here

Sunriver Magazine Call to Art/Photographers
The Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce and Cascade Publications Inc. are seeking a photograph to appear on the front cover of the annual Sunriver Magazine — which serves as the Sunriver area visitor’s guide. The photo should capture the area’s spirit of Family, Fun and Adventure, or just a beautiful photo of the landscape. The chosen photographer will receive a profile in the magazine as well as in Cascade A&E Magazine, $250 and a half page ad in Sunriver Magazine. Photographers are invited to submit a low-resolution photo for the contest, with the understanding the winning photograph must meet the minimum requirements of 8.875 inches wide by 11.375 inches high and 300dpi. 
The deadline to submit a photograph is 5pm March 3. Please send photos to jeff@cascadebusnews.com and include your name and phone number.

Gov. Brown to Announce Next Round of COVID Vaccine Eligibility
Gov. Kate Brown will announce on Wed., Feb. 26 which Oregonians eventually will be eligible for vaccinations in the next wave of inoculations, aiming to improve stubbornly low rates for people of color. Read full story by clicking here
This new risk level and associated business guidance will remain in place until at least Thursday, February 25. On Tuesday, February 23, the COVID-19 infection rates from the previous two weeks will determine Deschutes County’s risk level for a new two week period beginning on Friday, February 26.

Vaccine Distribution Status Update
Inclement weather delayed shipments of COVID-19 vaccines across the nation - including doses Deschutes County expected for appointments scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 21 and first-dose appointments for the week of Feb. 22. Appointments scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21 have been rescheduled for the same time on Thursday, Feb. 25. Patients will be notified through their St. Charles MyChart account and/or email about the appointment change. Staff will be working to call those without either a St. Charles MyChart or email. Oregon Health Authority has allocated 3,140 first-dose vaccines to Deschutes County for the week beginning Feb. 22. No new first-dose vaccine appointments will be scheduled until the County receives an update on an estimated vaccine delivery date. When appointment availability reopens, Deschutes County expects to begin scheduling appointments for adults ages 70 and older. For full story Click Here
Residential Landlord/Tenant Assistance Program Launched
The Landlord Compensation Fund Program provides relief to residential landlords who have been unable to collect tenant rent due to tenant financial hardships. Landlords can directly apply for these resources through an online application portal. Landlords whose applications are accepted and awarded will receive 80% of unpaid rent they are owed by qualified tenants from April 2020 through the application period. They will be required to forgive the remaining 20% of unpaid
