A Roaring Success: The TMA Europe Annual European Conference in Madrid

In June, the EACTP attended the TMA Europe Annual European in Madrid. By all accounts it was a roaring success and we were pleased to see a good turnout of members. The two day conference provided some excellent networking opportunities and we were pleased to host a CTP roundtable and panel discussion where Alberto Cerini, Volker Beissenhirtz, Vlad Nastase and Boudwijn Wellink share some of their turnaround experiences and insights from real-life projects. It was also gratifying to see Alan Tilley receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his many years of hard work driving the EACTP forward.

CIGA Report: Another Step in the Right Direction

Towards the end of June, the Government published the results of a study that reviewed the operation of the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act (CIGA) 2020’s three permanent measures. The EACTP contributed to the report, making the case for CTPs to be recognised as moratorium monitors, and it was pleasing to see this input was considered, albeit with a qualified acceptance that accredited turnaround professionals could have a positive role in the moratorium.

Farewell and Thank You to Volker Beissenhirtz

In July, Volker Beissenhirtz announced his decision to step down from the EACTP Board to pursue new challenges. As one of the association’s longest serving Board members, Volker has been instrumental in the EACTP’s success and deserves recognition, not least for his work in developing the Certified Turnaround Analyst course and leading the mammoth task of compiling the Legal BOK. Without doubt, Volker’s support over the years has been a critical factor in the EACTP’s momentum and we owe him immense gratitude.

New Board Members: Welcome to Alain Le Berre and Kees Lieve

We are delighted to welcome Alain Le Berre and Kees Lieve to EACTP’s Board of Directors.

Alain was a ‘Founding Fifty’ Member of the EACTP and has been an active participant in the association since its inception. Working as an Interim Executive, Turnaround Manager and Consultant, Alain is highly experienced across a broad range of specialities. He is currently President of Alebimta in Switzerland.

Kees joined the EACTP in 2016 and has been a strong supporter of our mission ever since. As a Founding Partner of Kruger - Rotterdam in The Netherlands, Kees is a highly experienced and well-regarded turnaround professional specialising in restructuring consultancy, interim management, corporate finance and boardroom advice.

Both Alain and Kees are welcome additions to the Board and we welcome the insights and expertise they will bring.

TMA Europe’s 2022 East European Summit is almost upon us. Taking place in Bucharest, Romania on Tuesday 13^th September, the one-day event promises to bring together the best in industry for education, networking and connectivity.

The EACTP will be there, with Maria Pombo moderating a discussion on ‘empowering success in turnaround’. Those on the panel include Alan Tilley, Alberto Cerini and Gregoire Bouille.

Conference highlights also include a keynote speech on the ‘European Directive on Preventative Restructuring’, open networking opportunities and a rooftop party to close off the day.
