Timberlin Creek Families,
Bus and Bus Stop Rules - Student safety on the school buses and at the bus stop is a major priority. Parents are encouraged to monitor student behavior going to and returning from the bus stop and at the bus stop locations.
At the bus stop

Arrive at the assigned stop ten minutes before bus pickup time

Be visible (i.e. stand on the sidewalk or the edge of the street by the curb)

Stay off private property

Do not stand in the road at any time

Be respectful and watchful of traffic

Wait quietly and orderly

Children's International Summer Village (CISV) - Timberlin Creek fifth graders Saanvi Kuravi and Saumya Poddar have been selected to represent the United States at a CISV Village held in Canada this summer. Their US delegation (2 girls and 2 boys and an adult leader from Jacksonville) will attend the Village along with delegations from 11 other countries. At this 4-week camp, the delegates will participate in a mix of activities exploring an educational theme and designed to develop intercultural awareness, self-awareness, leadership skills and cooperative skills. CISV, founded after World War II, is an independent, worldwide volunteer organization that educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world through youth educational programs. The Jacksonville Chapter of CISV (www.cisvjax.org) has offered international and local programs for Jacksonville youth for 40 years.

Harlem Wizards - Please make sure you purchase your tickets today for the Harlem Wizards Basketball game that will take place at Bartram Trail High School on Saturday, May 14 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. You will not want to miss this amazing family event. Come cheer on our very own Timberlin Creek Eagle teachers as they play against the Harlem Wizards in a basketball game you will not want to miss. End of the Year Classroom Functions
As the end of the year approaches, I would like to send a reminder to ensure each member of your family has completed the School Access form. If this form is not completed in advance of school functions, family members will not be able to attend the end of the year events. Take a moment and complete the online School Access form on our school website or https://stjohns.keepntrack.com/apply.

Please let neighbors, friends, or co-workers know about the district wide Kindergarten Registration dates. We look forward to meeting our new families. TCE NIGHT OF THE ARTS
Tuesday 10 May
Come and join us at TCE for Night of the Arts, Tuesday, May 10th. Chorus and ORFF Ensemble will perform an "Earth Day Everyday" concert at 6:30 in the amphitheater. Artwork from every student will be displayed throughout the hallways. There will also be art activities for you to enjoy with your family going on until 8:00pm.

Proctor Request
TCE Families,
It's that time of year when we can use your support for state and district testing! Per St Johns County School District policy, we are required to have a proctor in all classrooms during all state (FSA) and district (DE) assessments. This has created an immense need for proctors this school year. Please consider volunteering your time for one or more days and time slots as a proctor for testing.
Additionally, we have orange Signup sheets located in the front office, or you may email me with any dates and times that you are available. (Lisa.Coppedge@stjohns.k12.fl.us)
A few reminders:
1. Per district and state policy, you may not proctor for your child's class.
2. You will need to complete a short proctor training and sign a security agreement.

Battle of the Books
Team Members
Every year students who have read all fifteen Sunshine State books are eligible to try out for the Battle of the Books team. Over forty five students tried out during the first week of April. We are proud to announce the 2016 team members: Katelyn Moody (Captain and 3rd year member), Sophia Magdalein (Assistant Captain and 2nd year member), Anika Kapil, Julia Kagan, Leila Wickliffe, Connor Tallant and Likith Tipirneni. The TCE team will compete against other elementary schools on Tuesday, May 10th at Switzerland Point Middle School. Congratulations to these amazing students and good luck!

Important Dismissal Procedures
|
Dismissal is at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. School dismisses ONE HOUR EARLY EVERY WEDNESDAY at 1:50 p.m.
For the safety of all of our students, parents are asked to call in all transportation changes no later than one half-hour before dismissal (2:15 p.m. / 1:15 p.m). In addition, students that will be leaving early must be checked out one half-hour prior to dismissal. This allows us to disseminate this new information to all of the applicable parties and ensure that your child reaches his/her correct destination safely. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe!

BEYOND THE BELL - EXTENDED DAY UPDATES
- LAST CALL to secure a spot in the Beyond the Bell Program for 2016-17, the registration fee as well as the first full month of August is due on or before Friday, May 13th. Just a reminder registration for the 2016- 2017 school year is due. Rates for 2016-2017 will not increase.

- ALL students must be signed in AND out from Extended Day every day. Parents are required to walk their child in and sign them in every morning and walk in and sign them out in the evening.
- Drivers are asked to park in empty non-reserved parking spaces in our parking lot. Reserved parking spaces on the far end of the building are there for the use and safety of staff that must arrive/depart in the dark.
- All payments for Beyond the Bell are due on or before the 15th of each month.
- We are unable to provide services after 6:00 p.m. Please have a backup person on your list that we may contact if you are unable to pick up your child by 6:00 pm.

For the safety of our students and all visitors to our campus, 24-hour video cameras (interior and exterior) are in use on our campus.
We must ask that you NOT park in the reserved parking spots. These must be available for the staff that are here late at night.

Safety is our first concern! Please be conscious of the safest method of letting your child exit from your vehicle. For the safety of your child, our staff, and our safety patrol students, it is advisable to have your child exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.

You may send your gently used or new school supplies in to school with your child or place them in the bins in the reception area and Media Center through May 25.

Summer Art Camp
The St. Augustine Art Association is currently taking registrations for SUMMER ART CAMP, which begins the week of June 6th. Attached is a flyer with dates and details. You may also download a copy from our web site at www.staaa.org.
This year, we are offering five sessions, for students in grades 1 thru 6, that explore fun topics inspired by Master Artists through painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media projects.
High School volunteers who wish to earn Community Service Hours are being scheduled on a first come, first served basis. A Student Volunteer Form is also attached.
Please feel free to share the ART CAMP FLYER and information about the program with students, parents and others.

CAA Families,
As many of you know, Creeks Athletics Association (CAA) has been the partnered provider of St. John's County for youth athletics in the Northwest for 20 plus years.
We have over 4500 families and more than 700 volunteers participating in 15 different sports including baseball, softball, lacrosse, wrestling, track and field and special needs baseball (Field of Dreams) to name a few. Many of you are volunteers who have dedicated countless hours and years building our program
into one of the most recognized community organization in St Johns County and the State of Florida.
With regards to our youth soccer program, what we originally thought was a partnership turned into a complete takeover of our program. This year our soccer board was suddenly disbanded, our bank accounts were moved, our web site was taken and many of our recreation players were displaced out of Veterans Park.
Creeks Recreational Soccer will return as it was for the past 20 years.
We are committed to providing the recreational soccer needs of St Johns county residents in our area.
We commit the following:
- High level of recreational soccer all taking place at Veterans Park. We have all the permits on file.
- Affordable costs for our player: Uniforms included in the cost of registration.
- No more on-line stores to purchase your uniform at an additional cost. And if we receive a sponsorship on the uniforms, we commit to lowering the registration price.
- Teams can stay together... bring your entire rec recreational team over, we are very experienced at making that work.
- The club will be built on volunteers. If we do hire people it will be cost effective. An audit of the books showed over $800,000 in salaries with the previous club, with a proposed budget of $1.1 million in 2016. We promise to never let this happen again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We are working very hard to return the recreational club back to the mission of CAA and the county. The Club will run just like the other 2 recreational clubs in the St. Johns County and we will fulfill the mission of the county and CAA.
As expected registrations have already started to come in at a brisk pace. Please help us spread the word that CAA recreation soccer is back at Veterans Park.
