April is the “Month of the Military Child,” recognizing the unique challenges, stressors, and emotional trials commonly experienced by these impressionable young minds. Fortunately, the Military support system has clearly identified and defined this concern and put into place actionable policy and procedure to ensure the family of our Military are supported. UNfortunately, our public and private sector could do a much better job supporting ALL of our youth throughout the many stressors and emotional trials many of our youth endure. These student-athletes will attend a recognition and awards ceremony on May 21st at Robarts Arena. Olympic Gold medalist gymnast Gabby Douglas will be the guest speaker! Congratulations to these young people and their coaches for the hard work, dedication, and commitment they give to their sport and SMA! 
FLORIDA VIRTUAL SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

Seniors, time is running out! You have less than 2 months until graduation. If you have not completed your FLVS or your community service hours, you should do so immediately. You MUST complete at least 75 volunteer hours to receive your diploma and 100 hours for the bright futures scholarship. If you are still in need of volunteer hours, see Mrs. Olree in the counseling office for current opportunities.

ENLISTED IN THE MILITARY?

Seniors, if you have actively enlisted in the military, you are now qualified to wear the red, white, and blue military cord at graduation. Please stop by the counseling office to sign up for your cord ASAP.
 
BLOOD BANK SCHOLARSHIPS
Senior Blood donors, listen up! Posted outside the counseling office is a list of cadets. Please be sure to double check the list as it has been updated. Last week we had the wrong list posted. Many more cadets have qualified for a scholarship!

You can still do this in time by going to the blood bank to donate. All applications need to be turned in to Nurse Collier by April 11 th or the blood bank by the 12 th .

ALAS is hosting a trip to Seaworld Aquatica Water Park in Orlando on April 18 th and you all are invited! There are only 52 spots available, the cost is $75 and permission slips may be found in either office or you may click here to print one.
