EAGLE WEEKLY
SMA HIGH SCHOOL
FROM OUR ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear SMA families,

It is an honor to be a part of the SMA school community in the role of the Assistant Head of School. Although, I’ll be working mostly with 9th and 10th graders, I look forward to meeting all of the SMA students and families throughout the year. My goal as an administrator is to establish positive and respectful relationships with our cadets and reinforce the values and high expectations of our academy. I personally value education, integrity, a growth mindset, perseverance, and a grateful heart. Therefore, I hope to inspire our cadets to pursue their education as they find purpose and discover their inner strengths and potential to live happy and successful lives. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to serve our school community. I am here to assist and support our cadets and their families in any way I can.
Sincerely,

Dr. Catherine Rodriguez
Assistant Head of School
9TH GRADE SCREENING

The state mandated 9th grade screening for height and weight will be Friday, September 21st during the JROTC class. Please ensure your cadet is in school that day. If you do not want your child screened, please send a letter to the clinic stating so. We need to have the letter on hand at least 2 days before the screening so we can notify the School Board Health Department.

YANKEE CANDLE & BED LINEN FUNDRAISERS

Junior State of America (JSA) students are conducting two fundraisers to help pay for travel and competition expenses to Fall State, Spring State, and Winter Congress. At these events, JSA members assume roles as mock legislators at both the state and federal level, draft legislation, and participate in policy debate. Please support their efforts by going on-line to order items direct from the vendors involved with their fundraising campaign.
Yankee Candle offers beautiful scented candles, tea lights, and decorative candlelit centerpieces that you can purchase at a great price. If you are looking for the perfect holiday home décor item or gift, you can order directly by using the following link:

Once on the site, go to the “Start Shopping” box in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Enter the Group # 990092496 , and begin shopping! You will be amazed at how many lovely items there are to choose from, and they are generally less expensive than at your local retail outlet!

BEAUTIFUL BED LINENS
Everyone can use a new or spare set of bed linens, and via this JSA fundraiser, you can order a variety of colors and sizes for the reasonable price of $39 per set, regardless of size, plus shipping ($5.95). Sets include pillow cases; additional cases can be ordered for $10 for a pack of two plus shipping ($3.00). These sheets are made of super soft, double brushed microfiber yarns and are available in 14 beautiful colors (black, white, aqua, dark red, gold/camel, silver, crème, eggplant, pale pink, dark crème, grey, chocolate brown, navy blue, and sage). Samples of the fabric can be viewed on-line or in Room 23.
