EAGLE WEEKLY
SMA HIGH SCHOOL
FROM YOUR ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear SMA Families and Friends,

As Winter Break approaches there are a couple of reminders for the month of December:
  • For Seniors Only:
  • Winter Formal Dinner at the EVEN Hotel, Sarasota-Lakewood Ranch. Friday, December 21st from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Cost $30. Contact Regimental Staff for more information. Tickets for sale until 12/17/2018
  • Order your Cap & Gown online www.jostens.com (Cost $32 plus shipping)
  • Local End of Course (LEOC) exams:
  • Remind cadets to study for these tests and to do their very best.
  • Final exams:
  • Are scheduled Wednesday, December 19 and Thursday, December 20.
  • Are half days and students are dismissed at 10:25am.
  • Grab and Go lunch will be available.
  • Busses depart at 10:40.
  • Attendance:
  • If your cadet is absent, always send a note to school for excused absences.
  • If a cadet knows they will be absent for a final exam, they will need to bring an excused note 5 days prior to finals for teachers to plan with the cadet on making up the final. Otherwise, there are no make-up days after December 20 and grades will be finalized for report cards.
  • Check the cadet agenda for more information on attendance policy.
  • Also, be aware that chronic absenteeism from school will impact a cadet’s ability to get and keep a driver’s license in the state of Florida.
  • Second Semester:
  • Starts Monday, January 7, 2019.
  • Have cadets check their schedules and speak with their respective counselors for any questions, changes, or concerns prior to Winter Break.

There are many great events happening at SMA, so check in with your club advisers for more information. Enjoy your weekend and the beautiful weather!

Sincerely,
