Webinar Lecture Series
­Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario, in partnership with the Senior Pride Network and the Fédération des aînés et des retraités francophones de l'Ontario (FARFO) invite you to attend our upcoming webinar lecture series, "Elder Abuse in 2SLGBTIQQA Communities".

The speakers will share their lived experiences and expertise working with older adults in 2SLGBTIQQA communities to provide insights into how social isolation, ageism and discrimination impact the safety, health and well-being for older adults. The webinars will increase your awareness of 2SLGBTIQQA older adults’ issues and needs, and describe approaches for working with older adults to connect them to community services and promote positive aging in 2SLGBTIQQA communities.

The webinars will be offered in both English and French. We encourage 2SLGBTIQQA individuals, their allies, and service providers to participate in the lecture series.

Discover the diversity of 2SLGBTIQQA communities and understand the issues and barriers affecting help-seeking and the importance of using inclusive language to connect and support older adults. The webinar will also provide the opportunity to learn from 2SLGBTIQQA older adult experiences to understand their experiences and better approaches to promote their safety, dignity and respect.

Anthony is the Senior Specialist, Equity & Community Engagement, Quality & Performance, St. Michael’s Hospital, where he has been since 1995. (Currently on leave)

Drawing from more than 30 years of experience in community and social justice initiatives, Anthony has specialized skills in facilitation, mediation, policy development, project management, research, community partnerships and strategically applying an intersectional anti-oppression framework.

He has worked in leadership roles with groups such as the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (Equity Strategic Plan), Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (Equity Policy Manager), Toronto Police Services (2SLGBTIQ training), CUSO (AIDS & 2SLGBTIQ partnerships) and the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (Executive Director).

Carmen has been advocating for social justice for decades. A few examples of her social commitment are her roles as a Human Rights Commissioner in Ontario, as a member of the Equality Rights Committee of the Court Challenges Program, and as the President of Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere (ÉGALE Canada). As a proud Franco-Ontarian, she now advocates within “Retraite en Action” and the Ottawa Senior Pride Network.
