A Heartfelt Message to Our Community,
As we come to the close of another challenging yet productive year, we want to pause and say thank you to our supporters, donors, volunteers, staff, and Board. EAPO has had a truly stellar year, navigating complex and evolving issues of Elder Abuse with care, resolve, and impact. Together with system and community partners, we have engaged in numerous initiatives to help safeguard older adults who are at risk or experiencing challenges and compromised quality of life.
We are truly grateful for how the sector continues to work collaboratively across the country. This spirit of collective action has never been more important. In 2025, EAPO was proud to be part of significant Human Rights advances, including the historic April Resolution which advanced the work of drafting a UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons, in Geneva. Putting pen to paper on a legally binding international instrument is no small feat, and it reflects years of shared advocacy, persistence, and vision.
There is not enough space in this message, to list all the milestones EAPO has been part of this year. But what matters most is not the list of accomplishments, but the way we work together to ensure seniors can live safely, with dignity and respect. For us it comes down to the cherished relationships with those who support our work, volunteer in the name of this cause, and believe in what we can achieve together.
To our donors, your generosity, whether through financial contributions, time, or talents, has made a real difference. Your trust in us has enabled concrete results and improved the lives of so many seniors who turn to EAPO for support. To our subscribers, thank you for staying engaged and informed. To our volunteers, your commitment brings compassion into action. To our Board and staff, a special and heartfelt thank you for your unrelenting diligence, care, and dedication. Without you, none of this would be possible.
Advancing our priorities, have found growing promise and momentum among policymakers, the media, and the Canadian public, who are increasingly paying attention to seniors’ issues. As we look ahead, we do so with renewed determination and deep gratitude for all that you have helped us accomplish.
As we celebrate this holiday season, Christmas, Hanukkah, and all the moments of light and reflection it brings, we wish everyone, regardless of the spiritual journey you travel, a time of rest, joy, and renewal. May the days ahead restore your energy and inspire hope for a better world.
From all of us at EAPO, we wish you and your loved ones good health, peace, and time well spent with those who matter most. Here’s to a happy, healthy, and successful 2026.
With warm holiday wishes,
Marta Hajek
