Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) accepting applications for Multi-Country Research Fellowships
The Multi-Country Research Fellowship is now accepting applications. This fellowship enables US scholars to carry out trans-regional and comparative research in countries across the network of Overseas Research Centers (ORCs), as well as other countries.
The fellowship supports advanced research in the humanities, social sciences, and allied natural sciences for US doctoral candidates, who are 'all but dissertation', and scholars who have earned their PhD. Scholars must carry out research in two or more countries outside the US, at least one of which must host a participating ORC. Approximately nine awards of $11,500 will be granted.
The application deadline is November 16. Visit the CAORC website for further information.
Recruitment open for the second cohort of the Mansfield-Luce Asia Scholars Network
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation is recruiting the second group of scholars for the Mansfield-Luce Asia Scholars Network. The purpose of the Mansfield-Luce Asia Scholars Network is to identify and connect American scholars and practitioners specializing in Asia who demonstrate an interest in and extraordinary potential for becoming policy intellectuals. This program is designed for recent graduates of PhD or doctorate degree programs, junior faculty, or policy practitioners who have an interest in becoming policy intellectuals. The foundation will support them in this effort in order to expand connections between scholars and practitioners, helping to reinvigorate policy-relevant scholarship on contemporary Asia with the ultimate goal of contributing to the formulation of a more cohesive and sustainable U.S. approach to the Indo-Pacific. These scholars will include regional specialists with diverse expertise and perspectives who can participate constructively in the policymaking process in the mid- and long-term and contribute to better understanding within U.S.-Asia relations by teaching and inspiring future generations.
All applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents and possess a PhD or equivalent degree/experience with expertise in Southeast or Northeast Asia studies. The program is targeted at scholars with a professional interest in U.S.-Asia relations and at professionals who have a strong engagement with Asia and work experience in policy-relevant fields.
Participants must be fully dedicated to the one-year program and able to participate in all scheduled meetings. Network participants will be expected to participate in: a two-day policy workshop in Washington, DC for select scholars (May 2022); a long weekend retreat in Montana (June 2022); a two-week study trip to Asia (August 2022); and a publication launch event in Washington, DC (October 2022).
The application deadline has been extended to 5:00 p.m. EST September 27. Visit the program website for further information.
