President's Message: “Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside."
The Escrow Associates of San Gabriel Valley is proud to serve and give back to our community. This year we have chosen Foothill Unity Center as o ur Charity of the Year.

Foothill Unity Center is a place of real hope and possibilities for people in crisis throughout the San Gabriel Valley -offering food, temporary shelter, case management, transportation, referrals and a variety of health services for low-income and homeless people in eleven communities in Los Angeles County. Their record of service has helped them to earn Federal designation as a Community Action Agency for the Foothill Area, and are also known as a lean operation-with an average of 94% or more of every dollar donated going to programs for the past ten years.
Thank you to our Bottle Auction Sponsor, and all those involved to make it spectacular!

Sites and Reservations Committee: "Reservations - Enjoy The Difference."
Any member may submit a Standing Reservation form to the Sites and Reservations Committee which will be used to acknowledge the attendance of that member at every General Meeting, without the need of a further reservation. Unless prior notice is given that said member (with the Standing Reservation form) will not be able to attend a meeting, it will be deemed that the member will pay for this attendance at this meeting, whether they come or not. Any questions, please email
You may find the Standing Reservation Agreement on our Website under Member Tools .
Professional Designation Committee: "PD. See More. Do More."
How can I obtain my 48 Continuing Education Units (CEU’S) needed during this CEA Professional Designation Cycle (January 2016 – December 2019)?
Are you a Notary Public? If so, and you renewed your Notary commission during this cycle, just submit a copy of you Notary Commission and earn 3 CEU’S!
The CEA Professional Designation committee has a goal to have the Multiple Choice and True and False portions of the Certified Escrow Officer Test Questions to be available online by April 2019.  The Oral and Problem portions of the test will still take place at a brick and mortar location. With this in mind I am looking for CSEO’s to proctor and to do the oral interviews at the upcoming test in April.  If you are interested please email me at Tentative date scheduled for April 27 th 2019. More information to follow.

CEA Director Reports: "Every Director Has A Story."

One of the California Escrow Association’s goals each year is to bring value to our members. This year we are focusing on reaching more members and potential new members on all CEA has to offer through Social Media – FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram & Instagram. We are also updating the Members Only section of our Website to provide more resources and be more User Friendly. Included will be a introductory video on CEA that members can use in promoting themselves to the real estate industry.

If you have not yet renewed your Membership with CEA we encourage you to do so as we have lots of Education opportunities scheduled for the year, including conferences and webinars where you will save significantly by being a member of CEA.

and CEA 2019 President
As this short synopsis is posted, I am into the 35th day of my presidency and a lot has happened already. The 2019 budget occupied the attention and concerns of our Executive Board for the last 3 months and will continue to do so. Our Public Relations committee under Chair Vanessa James, is going into full throttle mode. Our Education committee has scheduled one webinar on Feb. 13 th regarding the California Consumer Privacy Act (AB375), a Bulk Sale whole day presentation in March and a CEA-C.A.R. (California Association of REALTORS®) webinar in middle of March. Escrow Practices is finalizing the Glossary and will put that on the website for members to use. Professional Designation has put up sample Multiple Choice and True/False tests for test applicants on the website and will have the final Multiple Choice and True/False tests online in April, although problem and oral exams will still be at a physical location. A lot is happening and we aim to keep you posted! Please follow CEA Facebook as well as EASGV Facebook pages, Like and Share!
CEA is off to a great start with our own Juliana Tu as President. She cracked the whip ‘til the 2019 Proposed Budget was reduced to an acceptable level, which was approved at the February Director’s meeting.

Also in the works is the planning of a CEA Legislative Day on May 15 th 2019.  Mark your calendar and RSVP before February 8 th

Is there a topic you would like covered at this year’s Annual Education Conference in Costa Mesa?  Please let me know. We are trying to think outside the box on topics that can be a benefit for us at our escrow desks.

Keep a lookout for the CEA Golf Tournament later this year, but not connected to Conference. It will be a stand-alone fundraiser on a Monday or Friday (date to be determined). If you are a golfer and have any thoughts about this please contact me at
