President's Message from your 2020 President:

Dear Fellow Escrow Warriors,   It is my honor to serve you this year as President of Escrow Associates San Gabriel Valley. You can rely on the association to provide a year of rigorous programming designed to keep your finger on the pulse our ever-changing industry!   Our theme this year is “Planting the seeds of education.” We are planning a year laser focused on the California Escrow Association’s mission of “maintaining the highest standards in escrow through the continuing education of escrow personnel.” We are planning a program of enlightening seminars for our members.     Here are the goals for the coming year:   Educate members on topics affecting the industry, particularly the following: Franchise Tax Board Withholding. See meeting notice in this newsletter. All new purchase agreements due out from California Association of Realtors.  Community Outreach: Continue support of local charities, especially with events supporting back to work programs and to help those re-entering the workforce. Participation in career days and mock interview exercises at the college level to expose our profession to professionals entering the job market. Membership: Work on growing membership by nurturing a vibrant educational community appealing to renewing and new members alike! Professional Designation: You can rely on EASGV to continue to provide another session of seminars to prepare for certification. This newsletter contains a flyer with the dates this Spring. Have you seen the test lately? The true false/ multiple choice is now online and you can test your skills at the practice tests here. EASGV Fundraising Report

What a successful 2019 it has been for our EASGV Fundraising endeavors!   We exceeded our targeted goal of monies raised in 2019! Our October dinner meeting was highlighted by two live auctions; the first a BEAUTIFUL bedazzled bottle of cinnamon after dinner liquor with actual eatable gold flakes was donated by Tricia Vagt of Covina Escrow. The other bottle by Phil Atwan with Exchange Resources, a bottle of Japanese Whisky. Together, the 2 item auction raised $420.00!   Thank you to our generous affiliates and escrow attendees who MONTHLY so faithfully bring in door prizes to help us raise moneys for this year’s Charity, the Foothill Unity Center, whose mission is to help donate to those in need to those located in the general surrounding Monrovia and San Gabriel Valley areas. In addition, this year our association brought a “laundry list of needs” for our Spring Cleaning push to our April Dinner meeting which we donated to Foothill Unity Center. On December 12 we purchased and delivered 12 new bicycles (from tricycles to young teenager size bikes) as a donation to the Foothill Unity Center from our escrow association, which will be raffled just before Christmas to less fortunate families. We wish you could have seen the staffs’ faces light up delivering all those bicycles!!! They just can’t wait to see the reaction of the children when raffling them at their December Christmas distribution!   Mario and I are so grateful for our EASGV “Difference Makers”, escrow professionals and affiliates who want to make a difference and our fundraising committee who served to help those who are hurting in the neighborhoods we work in.
