A Message from Our Pastor and Teacher
|
EASTER SUNDAY~ ~ "Graves into Gardens"
Even in the midst of pain and grief, may we remember that we are an Easter people! The grave cannot defeat us. On this day of Resurrection, may we celebrate the One who turns mourning into dancing, gives beauty for ashes, turns shame into glory, and graves into gardens! Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed!

Reflection of the Week from the Racial Justice Team
|
Misogynoir is misogyny directed towards black women where race and gender both play roles in bias. The term was coined by black feminist Moya Bailey, who created the term in 2010 to address misogyny directed toward black women in American visual and popular culture. Bailey describes misogynoir as "where racism and sexism meet, an understanding of anti-Black misogyny." The concept is grounded in the theory of intersectionality, which analyzes how various social identities such as race, gender, class, and sexual orientation interrelate in systems of oppression.

Dawn Reflections at Corcomroe Abbey
by John O'Donohue
|
|
“Let us thank the Earth
That offers ground for home
And holds our feet firm
To walk in space open
To infinite galaxies
Let us salute the silence
And certainty of mountains:
Their sublime stillness,
Their dream-filled hearts.
|
|
Let us remember within us
The ancient clay,
Holding the memory of seasons,
The passion of the wind,
The fluency of water,
The warmth of fire,
The quiver touch of the sun
And shadowed sureness of the moon.
That we may awaken,
To live to the full
The dream of the Earth
Who chose us to emerge
And incarnate its hidden night
In mind, spirit, and light.”

The Organ Committee meets regularly and is working closely with Rick England, who is a recognized expert and who also was RUCC’s very first organist. A summary of Rick’s work on our behalf to date is attached here.
He has found at least three instruments which can serve and expand the music program at RUCC, and that are in a price range that does not exceed the amount in the current Organ Fund. The Committee is scheduling visits to other Southern California churches that have similar organs to the ones Rick has identified so we can assess which might be the “best fit” for RUCC.

Rummage Sale - Saturday, April 30
|
Reuse-repurpose-recycle! To kick off Earth Week, the RUCC Rummage Sale will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Covenant Hall. This is a great opportunity for you to send your “treasures” onto someone else who can use them, or to find a new “treasure” or two for yourself. This is a golden opportunity to get rid of things cluttering up your house or garage!
An eWaste collection will be held in the parking lot the morning of April 30. Articles for the eWaste collection can be brought only on April 30.
