JFB Students Helping Families in Need
Two students at J.F. Burns Elementary approached Principal, Cheryl Montag about how they could help families in need. Together, Mrs. Montag, 2nd grader Easton Burge and 4th grader Kristen Ackels came up with the idea of hosting a book swap.
Ethan and Kristen will be ambassadors of the J.F. Burns Book Swap where they have asked students and parents to check their book libraries at home and send in books to use in the swap.
Every student in the building will receive a swapped book and the remainder of the books will be donated to the United Way of Warren County to give to local families in need. Way to go, Ethan and Kristen! #KingsStrong

Before the Winter Break, Kings Junior High seventh graders visited the new MakerSpace area in the Bradford Learning Commons at Kings High School.
The students have been discussing self-directed learning projects and "Genius Hour," a movement that allows students to explore their own passions and encourages creativity in the classroom.
Students spent time checking out the new space and making suggesting of items they would like to see in the new MakerSpace area. Mike San Marco, 7th grade teacher said, "These kids are so smart, inquisitive, and engaged - especially when they have some choice in the learning process!" #relatecreateinnovate

From Our School Resource Coordinator
Our School Resource Coordinator, Becky Lemon would like to thank the following for holiday help for our Kings Families.
Kings Local Schools would like to thank Missy Kowitz and KingsUKnights. Missy organizes the district-wide Christmas Assistance program, providing gifts for kids of families in need. This year, they were able to provide Christmas to 268 kids from 101 families! Missy dedicated several months to this project. She also stepped in to help some families with immediate needs. We are so very grateful. THANK YOU, MISSY!
Thank you to Nona and Kevin Peyton, and Joshua’s Place for the year round support of our families. Joshua’s Place offered Thanksgiving meals to our families who had signed up for Christmas assistance. THANK YOU, NONA AND KEVIN!
Many thanks to Tina Pendersen and the Rotary Club of Mason-Deerfield. They were able to provide seven pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals to families, which were delivered right to their front doors on Thanksgiving morning! Before the Holidays, they also donated over six hundred dollars in Target gift cards for some of our families in need. THANK YOU, TINA!
We would also like to thank Stephanie Copley and Deerfield United Methodist Church. She brought in food bags collected by the Church, which were enough to feed ten families. Each bag included a ten dollar Meijer gift card. The bags were delivered to homes just before the Holiday break. THANK YOU, STEPHANIE!
Our district is blessed to have so many caring individuals who do what they can to help others!
