Spanish Virtual Reality at KJH
|
|
Last week, the students in Mr. Jepson's eighth-grade Spanish classes, students created their own virtual reality tour of Mexico City. Focusing in the vocabulary and grammar of the unit, students researched different places to visit on a Spanish-language website.
The students then put those places into Google Expedition and got a first-hand view of the places they'd just researched. You can see an example of the tours created by the students by

KHS Students Visit Local Businesses
|
|
Students in the new Employability and Careers classes at Kings High School recently took field trips to area two area businesses. This class is a partnership with United Way of Warren County as a part of the Workforce Development Initiative that will help create a pathway for students from school to work and provide them with job and education opportunities they may not know about otherwise.
This year students will take Part 1 of course and Part ll will be offered next year. This initiative will help students receive opportunities to job shadow and possible internships with local business partners.
Students in this class are developing job skills and learning about employer expectations for work ethics in today's workforce. They are also learning the importance of developing skills such as effective communication skills, having a positive attitude, overcoming failure, building self-esteem, teamwork, dependability, initiative, and several other behaviors that are important in the workplace and in life.
The classes visited ADVICS Manufacturing Company and GMI to get a first-hand look at different types of manufacturing facilities and make them aware of job opportunities available in manufacturing in the Warren County area. ADVICS is a Japanese Company who makes brakes for several brands of cars and GMI makes all types of white boards and glass boards for different types of businesses and sports teams.
Prior to the field trips, representatives from each company visited the classes and shared about various opportunities their company offers and explained employer expectations from a standpoint of soft skills required to be successful in the workplace today.

Kings Junior High School hosted a Food Drive last week. A total of 1,300 items were delivered to the Kings Local Food Pantry in South Lebanon.
KJH teacher, Diane Bigelow organized the drive. Several students, including KJH Leadership students helped organize, pack and load the food for delivery. Mrs. Bigelow said, "One student happened to be at the pantry I dropped donations one day and he gladly helped me bring in that one car load."
Thank you, KJH for helping to feed those in need in our community! If you would like to donate to the Kings Food Pantry call 513-494-2692 or email them at

Kings Band Boosters Need Your Help
|
|
The Kings Band Boosters Board need your help. Kings is proud to host the AAA championships for the Mid-States Band Association (MSBA) on our campus on Saturday, November 3. This is an all-day event as we will have schools competing from all over the area. It is also one of our largest fundraisers for the year.
In order to host the MSBA AAA event to the level of excellence that only Kings can pull off, we need “all hands on deck”. Do you have a couple of hours (or more) that you can spare? Do you have a student who needs community service hours? Do you have a neighbor or relative who just wants to get in on a fun community activity? There are many ways to get involved, however here are some areas that have been identified with the highest need along with their sign-ups:
Kings students can also check on
Innerview.org
for student help for MSBA.

Be The Match and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will host a Marrow Donor Registry event on October 26 at the Varsity football game at Kings Stadium.
They will be raising funds and awareness for those who are fighting blood cancers and are in need of a bone marrow transplant. This year's event will also include a fundraiser in honor of Sarah Drees (pictured left), a Kings Community Member and 9 year survivor of AML, who is now fighting her second battle with AML. Sarah is presently at The James at Ohio State and just received word that her sister is a 100% match for her to proceed with a bone marrow transplant!
Attendees will have the opportunity to fill out information to register and receive a swab kit at home if they would like to be a part of the Be The Match registry. They will have several items being raffled. Tickets for the raffle will be 1 ticket for $1 or 6 tickets for $5. Students will also be participating in the stands with buckets to collect donations each time the Knights score, called Money for The Match.
