Grant Money Put to Good Use
|
|
In late July, the Kings Local School District was awarded a grant through the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation for Employers Working with Persons with Developmental Disabilities (EWPPD). The amount awarded was nearly $15,000 and the District utilized the funds to train staff members who work with students who may require behavioral interventions.
With the grant, we were able to send six staff members to two different trainings to become certified trainers within our District. They will support our Safety Care and CPI (Crisis Prevention) programs. On December 13, Shawn Rosekrans, Principal at Kings Mills Elementary, and Cassidy Wodke, Multiple Disability teacher at South Lebanon Elementary were able to train new paraprofessionals in our District.
Special Education Supervisor, Lorraine Hartke said, "Kings is excited to be able to offer these types of trainings within our District thanks to the EWPDD grant!"

Many of our sports teams host fundraisers to support their teams. This year, Knights Wrestling is hosting "Pledges for Pins and Wins" to support their athletes.
Wrestling is about personal dedication, personal victories, and a good support system. So, the coaches came up with Pledges for Pins and Wins which includes the option to sponsor a wrestler for a flat rate. The wrestlers solicit sponsors and their personal hard work will support our program.
There are 45 wrestlers looking for someone who will believe in them and be their personal cheerleader! At the end of the season you’ll get a letter from your Wrestler, thanking you and explaining what your donation meant, and a personal accomplishment they are most proud of this season.
Business sponsors are welcome and will be promoted on social media and announced at all home meets. Sponsors will be invited to the team's community dinner following the Jam the Stands Lebanon meet on January 30.
If you know a wrestler, consider making a donation. If you don’t, but would like to be a personal cheerleader to a student athlete, contact Sara Legault at
Legault.sara@gmail.com
