Due to renovations in the old South Lebanon Elementary building where the Allen's started the summer library over 10 years ago, they had to close the library.

Texting and Driving During Drop Off and Pick Up
Please use extreme caution when in our school parking lots. Recently, there have been many parent and student drivers seen on their phones in our school lots before and after school putting our students and staff on foot, as well as themselves in danger. Thank you for helping to keep all of us safe!

A Message from Coach Olds
This past weekend the Kings Football program delivered just over 20,000 bags of mulch in just under 20 hours. If you do the math, that comes out to roughly 2400 man/woman hours invested! Personally, this was my 21
st
Mulch Sale as a head coach. It has only snowed on our sale 1 prior time in all those years. That was in 1999 as my brave wife, Pam, along with 4 pickup trucks and about 35 helpers delivered around 2500 bags from the J.F. Burns parking lot. Boy have we grown!
As a head coach, I constantly worry about all that could go wrong. That comes with being “The Head Coach.” But, when the last delivery of the day is made, the lot's cleaned up and rental truck's returned, a feeling of great accomplishment soon surfaces. But the one feeling that always takes place is one of great appreciation for the community and school district and that I have chosen to raise my family in and to have coached and taught in for the last 27 years. The place I all home.
Programs all over Southwest Ohio try to emulate our sale. And to date, no school has come close to what we do in regards to volume moved (accurately) and in our time frame.
Our Kings Community and our Local School District has been unwavering. The kind e-mails complementing our kids and worker’s attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our customers were received before the end of the day on Saturday. Numerous customers were quick to pass out Gatorade, chips, and other snacks throughout the course of the day to numerous workers. I was lucky enough to get some freshly baked lemon bread on one delivery!
Our business manager, Mr. Matt Luecke, like Mr. Steve Waldmann before him, practically bend over backwards to accommodate our program. Mrs. Bogaert and her staff at C.I.S. have supported us each and every year unconditionally with the use of their facility on this weekend. And lastly, Mr. Miller and the Kings Athletic Department support and understand the importance of the monies raised on this weekend, as it helps to take some pressure off of him by allowing him to give more support to other teams.
This was a unique sale this year. Call it, “the year of the volunteer.” We had an entire truck manned with adults from Evolution Warehouse. They gave us over 9 hours of great effort, in which case, most of them had no ties to Kings Football! We had several Kings Football Alumni come back to “give back” by giving us Friday evening and all day Saturday, as well. These two groups were awesome!
KABC treasurer and Senior player mom, Shannon McKelvey helped organize food to feed the masses. These are just some of the following numbers; over 100 volunteers provided over 400 hotdogs, 35 pizzas, 27 dozen donuts, gallons of coffee and hot chocolate, 10 dozen bagels, lots of fruit, chips, and desserts. And on Sunday, the senior moms had a breakfast casserole buffet!
We had 45 football players work from 4:30 p.m.until 8:30 p.m. Friday night. 90 players worked on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and another 85 worked on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until about 2:30 p.m. My coaches are also asked to give up their weekend, as well. Keep in mind that of the 24 coaches I have on staff 7-12, they have around 24 children between the ages of newborns to a Junior in high school. Thanks to them, and especially to their wives, for allowing them to give “extra!"
Lastly, a special “thank you” to my wife of 30 years who has been “my rock” and certainly the best assistant coach a head coach could ever dream of having. She has not missed a sale yet! Thanks Pam!
NO ONE
does it as good as our Kings Community and Kings Local Schools, and I mean
NO ONE
!
See you on the field soon!
Coach Olds
GO KNIGHTS!!!

KHS Students Answer: "What Are Your Dreams for the Future of Our Country Today?"
Kings High School sophomore students in Lisa DeBord and Andy Endress' U.S. History class reviewed the Civil Rights movement, including Martin Luther King, Jr., the March on Washington, Selma, Alabama, and the S.N.C.C. (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee).
Students were asked to think about their dreams for the future of our country today. An extended response question on the unit test asked students to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech,"What are your dreams for the future of our country today?"
Here are some of the responses
of their sophomore students.
Mrs. DeBord said, "We were very impressed with the responses from our students. We read through them in class, and discussed the importance of using their voice, talking to each other, listening to each other, working together to solve problems, and turning their words into actions. It was a proud Kings moment!"

KHS Transition and College Fair
At Kings High School, they focus on providing students with the best education possible. In meeting the demands of the future, they believe it’s important to allow all students the opportunity to have exposure to the various options they have available to them once they graduate from Kings High School.
In order to meet that goal, they have planned to hold their first ever Kings High School College and Transition Fair on April 23, 2018. Students in grades 9-11 will have the opportunity to attend during school hours and this event will be open to the public beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Students and parents will have the opportunity to visit different booths to increase their knowledge of post-secondary opportunities including military, two-year, and 4 year college degree programs. Additionally, there will be services available from select colleges to discuss student accessibility and accommodations at the collegiate level. As part of the event, they have also invited adult service providers, transition programs, and adult agencies to provide families with information about the opportunities available to their students post-secondary options.
We hope you are able to participate. Mark your calendars for April 23, 2018!
