The 2nd Annual Cody Mayo Foundation Golf Scramble will take place on Saturday, June 30 at Walden Ponds starting at noon.
The Cody Mayo Fund was created by a community member 7 years ago. It was created in honor of Cody Mayo, a KJH student who died from cancer in his eighth-grade year. Although his cancer was advanced, he went to Washington, D.C, with his friends. The character and strength he showed through this ordeal was nothing short of heroic.
The Washington D.C. trip was one of the last things Cody was able to enjoy. Kings Junior High School now collects money in Cody's name to provide scholarships for students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to take this trip get to go.
Recently, we were notified that the tour company in charge of the 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip closed their doors leaving hundreds of Ohio students and parents who paid for trips, in a bind. KJH is thankful for the Cody Mayo Foundation for the fund they have created to make the Washington, D.C. trip available to all students. If you would like to donate to the Cody Mayo Foundation, send your check to Kings Junior High School.

Summer Reading Volunteers Needed
|
|
Joshua's Place has partnered with the staff and teachers at South Lebanon Elementary to host a fun and creative reading program called "Joshua's Place Summer Reading Lab." They will also offer Summer Camp in the Village from June 4-July 27.
Joshua's Place strives to help the children in our community with their reading skills throughout the school year with their Whiz Kid program. They hope to help keep these students' momentum going and don't want them to lose any ground they may have gained just because it is summer.
They have identified over 50 students who will be part of the Reading Lab and are looking for volunteers willing to come and spend an hour reading with the kids. This will not be a one on one tutoring session. The kids will be grouped according to grade level.
The reading lab will be held on Wednesdays throughout the summer from 10:30 to 11:30. The first reading lab will be June 13 and our last lab will be July 25. (We would not meet on July 4th.
)
You do not need to commit to the entire summer.
Even if you can only volunteer one week, they would be happy to have you!
This is a great oppo
rtunity for high school kids to get community service hours.
