United Way Promotes Literacy

Since 2012, United Way of Warren County has focused on kindergarten readiness by providing reading packets to preschoolers enrolled in Warren County public preschools and Headstart classrooms.
This Fall's campaign "
Welcome to Preschool - Lets Start Saving,
" focuses on literacy and beginning to teach financial responsibility. Each preschool student received a Curious George book about saving money and a piggy bank sponsored by LCNB National Bank. In total, over 1,500 preschool financial literacy packs were distributed.
Thank you to the following sponsors who have made these literacy fun packs possible: LCNB National Bank, the Warren County Foundation, State Farm Agent Jon S. Hopkins, LUTCF, and United Way of Warren County.

Kings Preschool Literacy Night
|
|
The Kings Preschool hosted their annual Family Literacy Night on Thursday, September 27. Students and their families were invited to enjoy a variety of reading and writing activities, while the Scholastic Book Fair was open for business in the gym. Clifford the Big Red Dog gave high-fives and smiled for photos, while each classroom also competed in a school-wide Penny War!
Throughout the last two weeks, students have been encouraged to bring pennies to their classroom. 100% of the money will remain at the preschool - buying books for their very own classroom libraries. The pennies are being counted today, and the class with the most will win a "Read in Your PJ's" day at school.
Preschool Teacher, Theresa Frazier said, “It was a beautiful fall evening filled with learning and fun!”
