Public Input Sought for EBRPD Emergency Plan
|
|
The Park District seeks public comments and suggestions to help create a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, a long-term guide to preparation for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, landslides, drought and other natural disasters within the 120,000-acres Park District.
The next public workshop will be held Jan. 23, 2017, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Trudeau Training Center, 11500 Skyline Blvd., Oakland CA 94619.

Park District to Fill Board Vacancy in Ward 7
|
|
The East Bay Regional Park District is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors due to the recent election of Park Director Diane Burgis to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.
The Park District’s Ward 7, which will be vacated by Burgis on Jan. 2, 2017, represents the communities of Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel Island, Brentwood, Byron, Crockett, Discovery Bay, Hercules, Knightsen, Martinez, Mt. View, Oakley, Pacheco, portion of Pinole, Pittsburg, Port Costa, Rodeo and Vine Hill.
Applications must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board, East Bay Regional Park District, 2950 Peralta Oaks Court, Oakland CA 94605 no later than noon on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.

Park District Adds 130 Acres in East Contra Costa County
|
|
The East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors voted unanimously in December to acquire two parcels, of 50 and 80 acres, to expand parks in Antioch and Byron, respectively. A donation of 50 acres, valued at $3.5 million, is coming to the District via the Regional Parks Foundation. The District is acquiring an additional 80 acres in partnership with the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy.

Volunteers Needed for MLK Jr Day of Service
|
|
Join us for a morning of habitat restoration in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteers will remove invasive plants and debris from the shoreline, and help with restoration of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Grove.
The event will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland. Registration is required. Register groups up to 100 people online or by calling our Reservations desk at 1 (888) 327-2757, Option 2.

Join the 2017 Trails Challenge
|
It's time for a new year - and a new Trails Challenge! Join the thousands of East Bay residents participating in this annual tradition. Every year the Park District highlights 20 different trails to explore. Hike at least five trails - or at least a marathon's length of 26.2 miles - by Dec. 1st to earn your commemorative pin. This FREE self-guided program is brought to you by a partnership between the East Bay Regional Park District, Kaiser Permanente, and the Regional Parks Foundation.
The guidebook will be available online beginning Sun., Jan. 1st. Free T-shirts will be available at selected Visitor Centers beginning Jan. 3rd, while supplies last.

New Year's Day Butterfly Walks
|
Start the year off right with an inspiring visit to our monarch butterfly grove at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont. Discover the amazing life cycle of these tiny creatures and how they survive the winter in the Bay Area. Meet at the Granary.
Walks will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Sun., Jan. 1st. Winter entry fees are $3 adults, $2 children (4 - 17 years), under 4 years - free. The park opens at 10 a.m.
No reservations are needed.
