Park District Places No-Tax-Increase Measure CC Extension Measure on November Ballot
|
|
On June 5, 2018, the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors unanimously placed an extension measure on the Nov. 2018 ballot to continue local, voter-approved funding in the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Alameda, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont -
with no increase in taxes.
If approved by voters, the measure would simply continue existing Measure CC funding to protect against wildfires, restore natural areas, and maintain public access to Regional Parks in the Measure CC area.

Prop 68 Passed by California Voters - $2.83 Billion to be Invested in Parks Statewide
|
|
On June 5 California voters approved Proposition 68, the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access For All Act of 2018, with 56% of the vote (70% in Alameda County and 60% in Contra Costa County). Proposition 68 includes $2.83 billion for parks and natural resources, $720 million for water resources, and $550 million for flood protection, including $200 million for local parks to be distributed on a per capita basis throughout California so that all communities benefit.

Save the Redwoods League 100th Anniversary

|
Since 1918, Save the Redwoods League has worked to protect and restore redwood forests and connect people to peace and beauty. The League has pioneered innovative, science-based forest-restoration work, educated thousands of students about the uniqueness and resilience of these wild marvels of nature, improved access to parkland, and helped create parks and reserves that have touched the lives of millions of people from all over the world.
The East Bay Regional Park District partners with the Save the Redwoods League to offer educational programs at Redwood Regional Park – just one of the places redwoods can be seen in the East Bay.

Vargas Plateau One Year Later

It's been one year since Vargas Plateau was reopened, giving Fremont residents and the greater East Bay community access to nature and ridgetop views of the entire Bay Area.

What Are Those Goats Doing?
|
|
How many times have you seen goats grazing on hillsides in the Bay Area and wondered why they were there?
One goat's lunch serves as wildfire prevention for the rest of of us. Goats enjoy munching on thick grass and brittle underbrush, and the more they eat, the less fire fuels there are for wildfires to develop and grow. Goats can eat four to ten pounds of vegetation each day, proving to be a very cost-effective part of the Park District's fire hazard reduction efforts.
The next time you see a herd of goats in the parks, tip your hat to them for helping prevent wildfires, one bite at a time.

50 Years of National Trails
|
|
2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act of 1968, which established our country’s National Scenic Trails and National Recreation Trails.
You can explore some of these National Trails right here in your Regional Parks! The East Bay Skyline National Trail traverses 31 miles through seven regional parks: Wildcat, Tilden, Sibley, Huckleberry, Redwood, Anthony Chabot and Lake Chabot. The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail extends 1,210 miles, from Arizona, through Southern and Central California, to the Bay Area. The Delta de Anza Regional Trail in eastern Contra Costa County commemorates the route of Anza’s expedition in Contra Costa County.

Free Concerts at the Cove is back! Join us at Crab Cove in Alameda every second Friday through August (July 13th, and August 10th) for free family fun, nature programs, and crafts - along with great live music and stunning views.
Now in its 19th year, Concerts at the Cove has become an institution in the City of Alameda, where hundreds of visitors walk and bike to the Crab Cove Visitor Center to enjoy some of the Bay Area’s best bands.
The East Bay Regional Park District, Regional Parks Foundation, and Rotary Club of Alameda are proud to co-sponsor the annual Concerts at the Cove series.

Memberships Available at REI and Select Regional Parks
|
|
Regional Parks Foundation memberships are now available for purchase at REI stores in Berkeley, Concord, Dublin, Fremont, and San Francisco.
Select District parks and visitor centers will also have Regional Parks Foundation memberships for purchase at kiosks and point of sale locations, including Contra Loma, Roberts, Lake Chabot, Shadow Cliffs, Quarry Lakes, Sunol, Coyote Hills, Tilden, Del Valle, and Ardenwood.
Individual, Family, and Angler memberships provide unlimited day-use parking, an annual dog pass, free swimming during swim season, camping discounts, and a host of other benefits.

Regional Parks Foundation
was established in 1969 to support the East Bay Regional Park District by providing broader public access. Membership offers a convenient way for users to have frequent access to over 120,000 acres that make up your Regional Parks.
