Free Park Entrance Day Nov. 24
|
|
Entrance to the East Bay Regional Park District will be free on Black Friday (Nov. 24) to encourage people to visit parks, not malls.
The Park District will be waiving fees for parking, dogs, horses, boat launching and fishing permits at all 65 parks in the District. Entrance fees at Ardenwood Historic Farm will also be waived. This is the third year the Park District has been free on Black Friday.
“Getting out into nature the day after Thanksgiving is a great way to spend time with the family,” said General Manager Robert Doyle. “The East Bay Regional Park District is pleased to be part of the annual ‘Opt Outside’ event that encourages people nationally to connect with nature by visiting a park or going for a hike on Black Friday.”
Fee waiver does not apply to state fees, including fishing licenses and watercraft inspections, and does not apply to District concessions such as the Tilden Merry-Go-Round and train.
Opt Outside started in 2015 when REI closed it doors on Black Friday and encouraged its employees and the public to explore the outdoors instead of shopping. More than 1.4 million people and 170 organizations participate in Opt Outside each year.

Regional Parks Free for Active & Retired Military on Veterans Day (Nov. 11)
|
|
The East Bay Regional Park District welcomes military personnel as guests on November 11 (Veterans Day). All active and retired military personnel will receive free day-use parking, park entry on Veterans Day, including Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont.
This benefit applies to individual military personnel, not entire families (except parking, which is charged per vehicle). Fee waiver does not apply to dog fees, boat launch or inspection fees, fishing permits, etc. Does not include fees for any concessions (such as the Tilden merry-go-round, and train).

Measure CC Public Meetings
Provide your input regarding future goals and priorities in the
Measure CC
area, including public safety, wildfire prevention, park infrastructure & maintenance, environmental stewardship, and habitat protection. The first of three public meetings was held on Oct. 26 in Richmond. Two more meetings are scheduled for this month.
In 2004, voters in the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Alameda, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont approved
Measure CC to provide funding for park infrastructure, maintenance, and services. Measure CC was passed with 72% support and is set to expire soon. Measure CC cost $1/month ($12/year) per parcel.

is a local revenue measure that was passed by voters in the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Alameda, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Albany, Emeryville and Piedmont in 2004 to provide funding for park infrastructure, maintenance and services.

is set to expire soon.

Second Public Meeting on Coyote Hills Restoration and Public Access Project
|
|
The Park District is holding its second public meeting to provide information on the planning and development process for the expansion of Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont.
In 2014 the District received a donation of 296 acres (Patterson Ranch) bordering the eastern boundary of Coyote Hills Regional Park, expanding the park eastward to Paseo Padre Parkway. The site presents opportunities for improved public access and habitat restoration.

Lake Chabot Loop Trail
Re-Opens
|
|
The Lake Chabot Loop Trail around the entire Lake Chabot has reopened. For the past 17 months, the segment running from the West Shore Trail to the Bass Cove Trail has been closed to allow EBMUD to seismically retrofit the 142-year-old Lake Chabot Dam.
Visitors may access the newly reopened loop trail through several entry points throughout the Park District’s Anthony Chabot Park and Lake Chabot Park.

Golden Gate Weavers Guild Exhibit at Tilden Nature Area

Come explore the craft of weaving with wonderful examples created by our local weaving guild! A variety of traditional and non-traditional fibers have been used to weave these masterpieces.
