Matthew 5:1-12

"Eternal Father, Strong to Save"

Dear Hodges Church family,

Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a beautiful day!

The Eblast comes to you on Tuesday afternoon, but because I’m taking a couple of vacation days on Monday and Tuesday of this week, this article was written Sunday afternoon … and, you guessed it! The song above is what’s in my heart and on my mind (to the point of being an annoying earworm)! This past Sunday was Commitment Sunday and it was, indeed, a beautiful morning and a beautiful day (!!!), and if I’m not mistaken, I believe a good time was had by all! It was glorious to be able to remember and celebrate our sacraments together, and it was glorious to be so blessed as to be able to make a commitment to be a blessing to others, AND it was glorious to enjoy brunch together with our sisters and brothers in Christ. It just doesn’t get much better than that, now, does it??? So, I want to say a huuuuuuge thank you to all those who were in attendance and brought your cards forward as you celebrated the Lord’s Supper. I also want to encourage those of you who couldn’t be with us in the fact that we don’t have a DEADLINE for those cards. It does make our planning eeeeever-so-slightly easier to have the cards sooner, rather than later, but … no pressure. :) The early numbers were promising, and we look forward to hearing from the rest of you. And, because it was so exciting for me (and a great testimony about commitment to stewardship!), I want to tell you about an email I got Sunday afternoon. One of our members was unable to be in worship Sunday morning and was near frantic about getting the commitment card in and accounted for. How cool is that?!?! I assured this person that even if it was a few days or a week, we would be happy to accept that card. So, … hey you, out there – you know who you are – THANK YOU!!!  It’s exciting to see others’ experience of stewardship as such a positive one. I’d also like to thank the following precious members who were so very kind to share their thoughts on stewardship:

Mary Alderman          Crystal Phillips
Kathy Cockerham      Brad Russell
Jim Morton                 Edie Tebbs
Raymond Zalusky

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH! You were all so thoughtful and amazing, and we are all grateful and blessed by you!

As just a tiny teaser for what’s coming up this Sunday, November 11 …

You may (or may not!) be aware that this past Thursday, November 1, was All Saints’ Day, an important day in the Church when we remember the great saints who have gone before us. For this occasion to get its full due, we decided to hold off on this special recognition until after Commitment Sunday. We have had seven member deaths in the last year, and we will be tolling the bell in thanks and remembrance of them at the beginning of both services on Sunday. I hope to see you then.

In the meantime, DON’T FORGET!!!!!!

GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME AND
ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD!!!

Thanks be to God!

Your servant and friend,
