"Live into Hope"

Dear Hodges family,

Our EBlast is a day late this week because Monday was a holiday and we were scurrying around on Tuesday doing Monday things, and now on Wednesday doing Tuesday things. So, welcome to this week’s issue of the EBlast!!

I am back in the saddle after a week of grandparenting in Portland, OR. It looked suspiciously like cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, and changing dirty diapers, with an occasional baby snuggle, but that’s how grandparenting goes sometimes, right? It was an immense joy to be with our growing family, but it is always a joy to get back to our own home (read: BED) and regular routine, even if it means playing catch-up. It was totally worth it!

There are a couple of things coming up in the immediate future that I want to make sure you have on your radar……
·        This Sunday, January 27, we are commissioning the Immokalee mission trip co-workers at the 9:00 service.
·        Next Sunday, February 3, will be celebration of the Lord’s Supper and an update from the PNC at both services.
·        The next Sunday, February 10, will be the annual congregational meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary, with several important items on the agenda: receiving the 2019 budget, editing the church by-laws to be a little more up-to-date, and electing elders. Please plan to be with us!
Exciting times, right????

In the meantime, I encourage you to hold all those in need in your fervent prayers (we have many on our prayer list – check the EBlast and your bulletin), as well as the 800,000+ government workers and their families and affiliated businesses and service providers that are affected by our government’s shutdown. All politics aside, there are many who are suffering who need substantive help, as well as the power of our prayers. We also have three searches going on in our congregation (pastor, youth director, sexton) with three teams doing the legwork, who also need your prayers. So, as you’ve heard before and will hear again … pray, pray, pray , pray , PRAY!!!

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure.
It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others.
It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds.
It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.  (James 3:17)

In Christ’s service,
Tweens Ice Skating
This past Sunday 15 kids and 5 adults braved the ice and went ice skating at Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex. Check out some of our pictures!

SAVE the DATE:   February 10 at 12:30 p.m. is our next Tween Event. It will be a combined tween/parent bowling competition.  This is one of our favorite things to do. Watch for more information to come SOON.   We will need to reserve lanes for this one at Bowl America on Beach Boulevard. Be ready to answer the question, “How does God bowl you over?”
