Environmental Center Happenings 

 

We are hiring an Assistant Coordinator 

The Environmental Center (EC) is seeking an organized and energetic individual to assist with the EC's programmatic, operational and administrative functions. The Assistant Coordinator position will play an integral role in training and supporting our student leaders, overseeing office operations, spearheading projects/programs in our focus areas, and coordinating various operations. The latter includes work with both our in-vessel compost system and our campus garden. This is a 9-month, full time, permanent position.

Hiring Student Project Staff for Fall 2015

The EC is looking for a few passionate students interested in learning how to create institutional sustainability and social change. Student staff work with their peers in a fun, team-oriented environment to build out projects, programs, and events that help to progress the EC's Local Food Security, Zero Waste, Real Food Challenge, and Campus Sustainability objectives. Along the way, staff gain invaluable professional skills, build an amazing community, and have a huge impact on our school and home.

SW Colorado Coordinator,  Cooking Matters

The Southwest Colorado Program Coordinator works closely with the Southern Colorado Program Manager to implement and support all aspects of the program in accordance with national program guidelines and strategies and supports achieving state goals. The Program Coordinator's main role is to coordinate Cooking Matters programming (6-week food skill education courses and one-time grocery store tours).

Driver, SW Farm Fresh Food Coop

Global Warming Solutions Internship, Environment Colorado

 

Interns will help educate and engage more students and citizens on the issue of global warming. You'll help us get the issue into the media, build coalitions with business leaders and health professionals, organize press conferences and town hall events, and participate in Congressional advocacy efforts.

Summer Stream Fish Ecology Internship 

This is a part-time, summer intersnhip conducting fish, habitat and water quality sampling throughout the San Juan River Basin. Applicants must have an interest in a career in biology, natural resources or tribal land. No prior experience necessary.

National Trails Day: Get to Know Mud Springs

San Juan Mountains Association in partnership with Tres Rios field office is hosting a National Trails Day Event at Mud Springs special recreation area, south of Cortez.National Trails Day is celebrated all over the US with a series of outdoor activities designed to promote and celebrate the importance of trails  SJMA and Tres Rios will be hosting a morning of hiking, biking and horseback riding. Horses will ride the 7 mile non-motorized loop. Hikers, and bikers will have several options of shorter distances into the area. BLM specialists and naturalists will be on hand to lead hikes and answer questions.

Join Bear Smart for a fun and educational community event to raise awareness as black bear season begins anew--with an emphasis on preventing human-bear conflict and keeping bears wild!
