The 66th Annual Paddy's Day Luncheon was held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Chicago Hilton & Towers in Chicago! ECA member, Stefan Lopata, Kelso-Burnett Co. opened up the program, as he was the outgoing Big Shilelagh! Another highlight of this electrical industry celebration, was the presentation of the Francis P. Cummins Award. This year, the award was presented by former ECA Executive President, Mark Nemshick to two deserving recipients: Rick Jamerson, ECA President and Ken Bauwens, EIT Chairman - both of Jamerson & Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc. Congratulations to Stef on a job well done! Congratulations to Rick and Ken on receiving this prestigious award! |

IMSCA Update (3/16/22) IDOL Public Works Act Update |
On March 14th, the United States Department of Labor announced the Illinois’ unemployment has fallen to 5%. As a result, the Illinois Department of Labor has concluded enforcement of the Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act. As a reminder, this law is triggered when Illinois’ unemployment rate is above 5% for two consecutive months. The Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act has been in effect since July 1, 2020. Please click on the link below for a press release from the IL Dept. of Labor for additional details.

April 30th, 2022 - Contractor Volunteers Needed!

Powering Chicago, the IBEW 134 / NECA Chicago joint labor management committee working together to promote a stronger union electrical construction industry, is seeking Contractor volunteers to participate in the annual Rebuild Together event on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. Rebuild Together, formerly Christmas in April, is a day of service which provides minor to moderate electrical repairs in communities that would otherwise go neglected. We are asking for our Contractors to assist this year by providing service vans, trucks and tools to help assist in making this 2022 campaign a successful Rebuild Together.

NECA Project Excellence Awards: Recognizing the outstanding work, professionalism and ingenuity of NECA member contractors.
|
To showcase the exceptional work performed by our member-contractors throughout the country, the National Electrical Contractors Association created the Project Excellence Awards to recognize companies for their outstanding commitment, professionalism and ingenuity in delivering an electrical project across 13 different market sectors.
NECA will accept submissions for the 2022 Project Excellence Award from March 1 to June 30, 2022. Awards will be based on whether the electrical/technology portion of the project is valued under or over $1 million for each market sector, except for industrial, low voltage/integrated systems, overhead transmission, residential, substation/interconnection and transportation/infrastructure. Applications submitted must be based on projects completed in 2021.

NECA Legislative Conference --

For the first time since 2019, the NECA National Legislative Conference is returning in-person this March 28–31 at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C. Join fellow contractors from around the country for updates on Congress, electrical industry priorities, NECA’s lobbying and fundraising efforts, and more. Attendees will also hear from top guest speakers, and get an opportunity to have their voices heard by those on Capitol Hill. The format of these visits will not be the same as in the past due to visitation restrictions.
SPECIAL STIPEND
The ECA Executive Committee has approved for all applicable ECA members that register and attend the Conference, the Registration Fee, Transportation cost and Hotel cost will be reimbursed to the company following applicable receipt(s) submittal after the Conference.
