WHAT’S NEW IN PRE-QUALIFICATION? – Our next ELECTRI Council Room on March 29^th at 3PM will focus on new third-party pre-qualification standards connected to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) requirements. The third-party prequalification process is becoming more prevalent and is impacting more contractors and our industry partners. ESG pre-qual requirements that have been tied to national grid projects for a few years are now making their way into projects for owners including General Motors, Ford, Intel, and others.

Third-party pre-qual services providers like ISNet, Avetta, BROWZ, etc. have incorporated new language into their pre-qual request, such as language tied to modern slavery, child labor, indigenous people. Electrical contractors are being asked for more information connected to their company’s sustainability planning and also to report carbon footprint, electricity, fuel and water consumption, waste to landfills, waste recovered and more. This Council Room will have a panel discussion to better understand how this has impacted our larger industry partners and share how other contractors have address these requests on past projects. The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Executive Committee recently approved a number of educational stipends for various events throughout 2023. Please click on the link for the current listing.

The registrations will be reimbursed to the applicable companies after the Conference. After you have registered for the applicable event, please e-mail a copy of your completed registration transaction to the Association office at registration@ecachicago.com.  This will allow us to have a record of your registration information, should you need any assistance after registering.

On January 10, 2023, the Illinois General Assembly approved SB 208 which creates the Paid Leave for All Workers Act. Governor Pritzker signed the legislation into law on March 12, 2023. The new law will take effect on January 1, 2024. This law sets forth a minimum of 40 hours (or 5 days) paid leave for all employees, regardless of size of employer. It is important to not that the law includes an exemption for signatory employers of collective bargaining agreements in the construction industry.
