The First Sunday of Advent

December 1, 2024

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Jeremiah 33:14-16

1 Thessalonians 3:9-13

Luke 21:25-36

Psalm 25:1-9

Thank you for Serving ECA!

We Need YOU!

Changes to Worship Services During the Season of Advent

Both services during Advent will be Holy Eucharist Rite I with music. We will also be using blue Altar hangings to emphasize the change from a penitential tone only to that of anticipation and hope. Rite I incorporates a penitential nature with traditional language that calls us into a spirit of anticipation and expectation as we await the coming of Jesus Christ, our Emmanuel. See Fr. Paul to learn more if with any questions.

Advent Wreath Workshop this Saturday, November 30! Saturday, November 30 at 10AM, our Altar Guild will host their annual Advent Wreath Workshop. No need to sign up - just come and get creative with us! We can give you some guidance in making your wreath if you like. There is a fee of $15 for supplies (wreath form, candles and candle holders.) Bring clippers and greenery from your yard if you can. We can package the materials for you if you cannot attend but would like to make a wreath on your own. Any questions can be directed to Bliss Peterson at 678-662-0508, blisspeterson@gmail.com or Brenda Pinkston at 770-977-7664, bpinkston57@gmail.com
