Retainage Bill Action Needed

Take action today to support HB 2878 that is seeking retainage reduction.

IMSCA’s legislative initiative seeking retainage reduction was included in this spring’s “procurement omnibus” bill, HB 2878. This legislation was sent to Governor Pritzker on Thursday, June 22nd. Governor Pritzker has 60 days to take action on our bill. It is important that we continue working together to reach out to Governor Pritzker and let him know this legislation is important to the Illinois construction industry.

Every single member of IMSCA needs to participate in this very important final step - this includes all of our Association Executives and contractor members (and employees, friends and colleagues). I also encourage you to ask other groups you are members of and ask them to send a letter of support as well – including your signatory labor unions. IMSCA needs ALL of you to write and mail a letter to Governor Pritzker without delay asking him to sign this legislation into law.

Retainage reform has been a priority of the Illinois construction industry for many years. The inclusion of IMSCA’s legislative initiative in HB 2878 is a great accomplishment for all of us in the construction industry - but there is one more step for the bill to become law - Governor Pritzker needs to sign it.

Attached you will find three different form letters that include:

1.          A letter that can be sent from Association Executives to Governor Pritzker.

2.          A letter that can be sent from IMSCA contractors to Governor Pritzker.

3.          A generic form letter than can be sent by employees, friends and colleagues.

What exactly does IMSCA need you to do?

Contractors:

Please print the Contractor letter on your business letterhead, insert your contact information, sign and mail the letter. In addition, ask your employees, friends and colleagues to also sign and mail a form letter.
