The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) November Membership Meeting is to be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute (INTECH). The ECA is proud to announce that the guest speaker is Don Finn, Business Manager / Financial Secretary, Local Union #134 IBEW. Mr. Finn will be able to provide an industry update. We invite all signatory contractors to this session.

Electric Association Membership Awards Ceremony - 10/14/21

The ECA congratulates Steve Diamond, President of Malko Communication Services, LLC, as he received the Electric Association’s (EA’s) “Gold Medal Award for 2020” at the EA Membership Awards program on October 14, 2021 at the Carlisle in Lombard, Illinois. Congratulations also goes to ECA’s own Carrie Spaeth, Assistant Manager, as she received the “Hall of Fame” Award! Stefan Lopata, ECA member / EA President, Kelso-Burnett Co. moderated the program.

NECA Convention & Trade Show Recap / Chapter Events
|
The NECA Convention & Trade Show was held on October 9 – 12, 2021 in Nashville, TN. The event brought the industry together for premier educational programming, networking, new product introduction, peer recognition and excellent entertainment. The Convention included an Opening Reception, General Sessions, Convention Education, Trade Show Education: Leadership Workshops, Technology Workshops, Construction Solution Workshop; three (3) days of the NECA Trade Show, a number of Chapter events, Academy Inductions, and the Closing Celebration.

NECA Safety Leadership Summit
November 1 - 3, 2021 @ Loews Hotel Chicago
This conference is for safety directors and supervisors, company executives, management personnel and all others that are responsible for safety within an organization. It is the place to find the safety solutions you need. NECA knows that safety leaders are always looking for products and services that will keep jobsites safe.
The Safety Leadership Summit will:
- Help decision makers identify risk in their organization and develop strategic plans to address them
- Aid leaders at all levels of the organization to close the gap between expected and actual results by addressing at-risk conditions and behaviors
- Provide education and forums that help leaders remove obstacles preventing safety excellence
- Allow networking opportunities for leaders struggling with the same challenges and discover what others are doing to manage risk in their organizations
- Gain access to suppliers, vendors and industry partners who are all working towards the same goal
- Learn more about current issues facing safety leaders today – Covid, Workforce Shortages, Employee Wellbeing, etc.
Stipend available:
The ECA Executive Committee has approved the cost of the Registration Fee of $575 for up to four representatives of participating ECA member firms. The stipend is to be paid to the applicable company(ies) upon completion of the Summit. Please forward a copy of the registration to the ECA office at: registration@ecachicago.com.

Northwestern University and Powering Chicago Fuel Students’ STEM Interest with Real-World Competition at INTECH

Powering Chicago recently teamed up with students from nine Chicago high schools to host a STEM competition in partnership with Northwestern University. As part of our commitment to better careers, the competition provided real-world applications of STEM and the electrical industry to aspiring STEM students in Chicago. Read the full story here
