THE SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

December 4, 2022

Merciful God, who didst send thy messengers the prophets to

preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our

Redeemer; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Isaiah 11:1-10

Romans 15:4-13

Matthew 3:1-12

Psalm 72:1-7, 18-19

Server Schedule for the Month of:

December

Thank you for Serving ECA!

We Need YOU!

We are crucially low with volunteers (Ushers & Lectors) to serve during Sunday Services. We especially need volunteers for the 8:30am Service. Please email ecaparish@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer. Thank you!

Note: Changes to Worship Services and Decorations During the Season of Advent

Both services during Advent will be Holy Eucharist Rite I with music. We will also be using blue Altar hangings to emphasize the change from a penitential tone only to that of anticipation and hope. Rite I incorporates a penitential nature with traditional language that calls us into a spirit of anticipation and expectation as we await the coming of Jesus Christ, our Emmanuel. Feel free to contact Fr. Paul with any questions.

Now Seeking Volunteers to Serve at the Christmas Services

If you are interested in serving at any of our Christmas Services (3 Christmas Eve Services and 1 Christmas Day), please email the office: ecanews@bellsouth.net. Thank you!

2023 Stewardship Update

Thank you to all the parishioners at ECA who pledged during our 2023 “More Than Enough” Campaign.  To date, we have 87 pledges that have been turned in for a total of $245,884 pledged. Please prayerfully consider your pledge if you have not turned it in yet. We hope to have an approved budget for 2023 by this December. This is great news considering how much other parishes in the diocese are struggling.

Vestry Nominations Open for 2023: Please Prayerfully Consider Serving Those interested in serving on Vestry at ECA, please contact Jamie Hreha, or Fr. Paul. Vestry is a 3-year commitment and meets once a month with a retreat in January. Vestry qualifications are: any confirmed communicant in good standing of the parish not less than 18yrs of age, a regular attendant of church services the preceding year before election, and known by the treasurer to have made and fulfilled a stated financial commitment for church support throughout preceding year before election.
