On-line Portal -- IDOL Prevailing Wage for Contractors Update

Beginning September 1st, 2020 – all certified payrolls for public works projects in Illinois MUST be filed with the Illinois Department of Labor – No Exceptions. The Illinois Department of Labor will be holding a Webex training on how to use this upload option. It is highly recommended that the individual who files certified payrolls for your organization attends this meeting. Even if you took the first training in April, it is recommended that you attend this session. This webinar is primarily for contractors, as they will be filing certified payrolls with the department.

NECA Government Affairs Webinar: August 26, 2020, 1pm CST
NECA’s government affairs team will provide an update on the latest happenings on Capitol Hill, including progress on Phase IV coronavirus relief legislation and its impact on our contractors. You will also receive an update on NECAPAC’s involvement in the 2020 elections and get a preview of NECAPAC and government affairs activities at the upcoming virtual convention.

Chicago’s Procurement Services Department to host online Workshop about Construction Contracting on August 27th
This is a Construction-focused workshop that provides an overview of the bidding process and highlights programs related to construction opportunities. This includes the Small Business Initiative (SBI), Mid-size Business Initiative (MBI), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Apprentice Utilization Bid Preference, and many more.
 
Virtual workshop will be from 2 to 3 p.m.

"Managing Field Productivity" August 27, 2020 - CANCELED!
The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee seminar called, "Managing Field Productivity" has been CANCELED! The session was scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel.
 
Again, this program has been canceled. An alternate session has not been planned for the remainder of 2020.
"Renewable Energy for Electrical Contractors" Training Program -
Friday, August 28, 2020 and Saturday, August 29, 2020 at

The Illinois IBEW Renewable Energy Fund (IBEW REF), which has received funding for renewable energy training throughout Illinois, is pleased to present a complimentary two-day training program regarding work in the solar industry in Illinois. The coursework has been developed to inform the union electrical contractor to become an effective union solar contractor.   
Stand-Down to Save Lives -
2020 National Safety Stand-Down September 14-18, 2020  
Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 320 of the 1,008 construction fatalities recorded in 2018 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries..  
 
OSHA’s Stand-Down webpage offers information on conducting a successful event, and educational resources. Employers are encouraged to provide feedback after their events, and to obtain a personalized certificate of participation.

The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) / Chicago & Cook County Chapter, NECA and the Northeastern Illinois Chapter, NECA are proud to present the next Safety Forum featuring the seminar, "Excavation Hazards in Construction."
 
"Excavation Hazards in Construction" is a FREE 4-hour safety training program designed to educate workers about the risks and liabilities associated with trench-related work.

OSHA provided an update to their COVID-19 resources as of July 6, 2020. The link below is for a PDF file that digests the information that has been shared over the last several weeks about the resources on OSHA’s webpage, and those of several other agencies and organizations. It is a list of general COVID-19 resources grouped by agency, a section with resources on reopening workplaces, and additional industry-specific COVID-19 resources grouped by industry. To help navigate the growing list a table of contents is included. It is intended as a resource and is not comprehensive.
