From the ECAS Office

Every day, electrical contractors across Saskatchewan help build the province’s future—from schools and hospitals to commercial developments and innovative energy projects. Although technology and the industry continue to advance, our commitment to safety, craftsmanship, professionalism, and training the next generation remains constant.

ECAS is proud to support its members through advocacy, education, collaboration, and leadership. Together, we’re building more than electrical systems—we’re building stronger communities and a stronger industry.

ECAS Member companies do the heavy lifting; consulting and challenging TSASK, our Consultants and Training providers for the benefit of all electrical contractors in the Province.

SERVICEBOX has returned as a member in 2026, providing the opportunity to streamline administrative activities contractors face so they can spend more time on Electrical work.

SERVICEBOX is Field Service Management Software for Commercial Contractors.

SERVICEBOX handles a wide range of service company needs including creating quotes, managing work orders, generating invoices, tracking inventory, scheduling and dispatching jobs, processing payments, purchasing from suppliers, recording timesheets, and integrating with accounting systems. All these functions are designed to be interconnected so updates flow seamlessly across the platform.

SERVICEBOX improves efficiency by ensuring that every feature—such as quotes, work orders, invoices, and scheduling—communicates with each other. This integration allows users to turn a quote into a work order with one click, update it on mobile devices, and have all changes instantly visible in the cloud for both office staff and technicians. It also eliminates manual data entry by pushing information directly into accounting software like QuickBooks.

Hot work safety tips to help prevent fire hazards

Hot work is a leading cause of property damage and material losses—and most incidents stem from human error. Whether it’s due to improper training, negligence, or failure to follow safety protocols, the risks are real. But with the right procedures in place, they’re also preventable.

To help you mitigate risks and prevent costly damage, we’ve created a resource that outlines key fire prevention measures, safety protocols, and best practices for managing hot work safely.

Protecting Against Vehicle & Catalytic Converter Theft

Vehicle theft continues to be a real concern across Canada. In fact, one in four Canadians say they, or someone they know, has experienced vehicle theft in the last five years.*

For businesses, risks like vehicle theft and catalytic converter theft — where a valuable part of the vehicle’s exhaust system is removed — can happen quickly and lead to unexpected costs and disruptions.

To help you mitigate risks and prevent costly damage, we’ve created resources that outline practical steps you can take to help reduce both vehicle and catalytic converter theft.

2026 Apprenticeship Celebration Dinner

The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission’s (SATCC) annual Apprenticeship Celebration Dinner will take place Friday, November 6 this year at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina.

The event recognizes outstanding achievements in apprenticeship. Employers, apprenticeship partners, technical training partners, and industry representatives will attend to celebrate the dedication and commitment of apprentices and certified journeypersons.

The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each and must be purchased beforehand. The ticket price includes a buffet supper.

Outstanding Employer and Instructor Awards

The SATCC is accepting nominations for the Outstanding Employer and Instructor Awards until Friday, August 28.

Apprentices and new journeypersons who received outstanding instruction in 2025-26 are invited to submit nominations for the Outstanding Instructor Award. The instructor must have taught apprenticeship technical training between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 at an institution contracted by the SATCC.

Nominations will demonstrate the instructor goes above and beyond what’s required; has excellent presentation skills; and is fair, approachable and professional.

Staff members of exceptional employers are also invited to submit nominations for the Outstanding Employer Award.

There are two categories: one for employers with more than 50 employees and one for employers with fewer than 50 employees.

Nominations should demonstrate the employer is a strong supporter of apprenticeship training; helps apprentices succeed; and creates an environment of excellence.

Winners are determined by a committee of industry representatives.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Organizations can commit to sponsoring the Celebration Dinner until Friday, October 9.

Sponsorships range from $4,500 for an event partnership to $300 for a program sponsorship.

Benefits vary depending on the sponsorship, but may include: signage at the event; recognition on the SATCC’s website; corporate logo shared on SATCC social media channels and included in the event program; the opportunity to bring a display; and tickets for the event.
