 Welcome to 2021-

Dear families and staff,
We trust that everyone had a wonderful and much needed break and are refreshed and excited about returning to school. With thanks to the community, the expected surge in cases from the Thanksgiving break did not develop and push the community in the Red, Severe Risk category. Pending no new changes to our community's status, we are grateful to welcome students back to the same schedule we were operating on before the break. Public Health officials are still concerned about a possible surge from the Winter holiday, so we must all remain vigilant and committed to wearing masks, keeping our social distance, washing hands, and staying home if we're sick. Transmission at school has been very low, showing that our levels of protection are effective at limiting disease spread within schools.

During the break, the Colorado Department of Education released a webpage showing the operational status of all school districts in Colorado. As a community, we have worked hard to offer the most in-person learning as is safe, and we have not been alone in our efforts.

As we head back to school next week, please be reminded of a few critically important practices.
  • If your child is sick, please keep them home.
  • If they have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please seek the medical advice of your family's physician and have them tested.
  • If someone in your household is being tested for COVID-19, please keep your children home until the results are known.
  • If someone in your household is positive for COVID-19, the entire household must quarantine (and not leave their home) as directed by Public Healt
  • If you or a student is directed to quarantine, they must remain home, stay away from others, not go to work or school, not have playdates or sleepovers, not engage in extracurricular activities

Prior to break, changes were made by Public Health in the quarantine protocol.
  • Quarantine times were reduced from 14-days to 10-days.
  • An asymptomatic person in quarantine can get tested on day five, and if the results are negative, may end quarantine after the seventh day, resuming normal activities on the eighth day of quarantine.  This is not applicable to cohort level quarantines within ECSD schools.

With the arrival of the vaccine in our Valley, we can be optimistic but rededicated to our efforts to keep this virus contained. Staff and families have done a truly remarkable job, and we enter into the new semester with renewed strength to finish this challenging effort with kindness and grace towards one another.

Respectfully,
Philip Qualman
Superintendent

Scanning Box Tops is an option too via the Box Tops for Education App that can be downloaded to your mobile device. Here's how:
1) Download the app from either the App Store or Google Play.
2) Select Eagle CO Charter Academy as the recipient school within the App.
3) Scan the store receipt from where you purchased the products with the Box Tops.
4) Clip the same Box Tops and send them in with your student to earn double points/money for ECCA.
When you scan your receipt ECCA will also be automatically entered into two different Sweepstakes. To learn more about the scan option and sweepstakes go to www.boxtops4education.com.

SCORE BOARD

It is important to keep in mind that we will be following both CHSAA and Eagle County guidelines regarding return to play and overall COVID protocols. In doing so, the schedule and availability of each sport is subject to change.

Currently, our league still does not have a set schedule planned for Girls/Boys Basketball, or Volleyball.

What this means (for now):
  1. Playing Games against other schools unlikely until CHSAA revisits our Season B Variances
  2. Pre-Season Skills Camps are planned to begin on January 11th with Girls Basketball
  3. Rotating Camps of Girls BBall -> Boys BBall -> Volleyball
Skills Camps offer a great way for student-athletes to try out a sport, improve on fundamental skills, and build camaraderie with their peers. The plan is to offer camps by grade level, and get in the gym two or three times per week.

Skills Camp Specifics:
  1. Students must be academically eligible (Not failing 2 or more classes)
  2. Camps will be non-contact and ran according to CHSAA/County/League guidelines and protocols
  3. Dates/Times will be determined based on coaching availability
Attendance at these camps is encouraged, and flexible. Knowing that students have prior commitments and other extra-curriculars, we are focused on providing the opportunity to our ECCA student athletes to share new experiences with their friends (as well as to improve and compete). If you are hesitant due to schedule conflicts, please reach out .

Finally, please use the Google Doc below to indicate the Student/Grade/Camp you are interested in:
