April 23, 2025 | Next eNews: May 7 | | The prophetic voice and witness of The Episcopal Church at COP29 | |
By the Reverend Stephanie Johnson, St. Paul's (Riverside)
For the past 10 years, The Episcopal Church has attended the United Nations Conference of Parties (COP) Convention on Climate change. Since 1992, these annual COP meetings gather thousands of change makers, government officials, non-for-profit leaders, and corporate representatives to tackle one of the most existential crises of our times. The voice of faith communities at COP talks have grown over the years with The Episcopal Church, along with the Anglican Communion and the World Council of Churches, realizing opportunities for engagement on a world stage.

Now Enrolling: An Episcopal Path to Creation Justice 2025-2026 Cohort
An Episcopal Path to Creation Justice is an initiative of Province 1 (Episcopal parishes in New England) designed to encourage and support our congregations to deepen and grow in a holistic response to the climate emergency.
Parishes around Province I, including ECCT, are encouraged to enroll in the 2025-26 cohort where they will have a trained Companion walking with them as they discern how their parish can deepen their commitment to caring for creation by Praying, Learning, Acting and Advocating. Path parishes gather in fellowship via monthly Zoom calls. If your parish or community is interested, speak with your rector and vestry, and reach out to the Rev. Rachel Field and Deb Baker at episcopalcreationpath@gmail.com by August 31 to join.

Red Dress Day Resources and Information
At ECCT's 240th Annual Convention, we adopted Resolution 4, Recognize May 5th as Red Dress Day. This resolution encouraged ECCT to "recognize May 5th of each calendar year as Red Dress Day: Remembering Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls..." and "encourage its worshiping communities to commemorate missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls."
The Journey of Discovery with Indigenous Peoples Ministry Network, in partnership with our Bishops, have provided liturgical resources which are approved for use in ECCT to recognize and remember Red Dress Day on Sunday, May 4.
