New Resources for Safe Church: Free and On-Demand
Clergy and lay leaders empower parishioners to maintain healthy spiritual communities. In partnership with The Episcopal Church and Praesidium Academy, ECCT is excited to announce new resources to support you in those efforts. The free, on-demand videos are now accessible in English and Spanish and are part of the requirement for Safe Church certification. The short videos are easy to stream, wherever and whenever works in your schedule, and address a range of topics.

ECCT 2023 PARISH STEWARDSHIP RESOURCES: | |
|
Project Resource Online Stewardship Course
Project Resource is a resource from the College of Bishops which equips parish stewardship teams with flexible resources to design and execute annual stewardship campaigns, which may be replicated and adapted for future years.
This year, Project Resource is offering a five-week online training, Sunday afternoons from 5:00-7:00 PM ET, via ZOOM. Participants will learn and practice together and finish the course with:
- A year-round stewardship calendar
- A step-by-step annual campaign implementation plan
- Hands-on training on how to make personal invitations
- Understanding of generational and individual donor motivations
- Cultural and technological strategies in lieu of the pandemic
The cost for a team of three is $450. ECCT will match a parish at half the total cost ($225), up to 20 parishes total in our diocese. Each additional team member will cost $125, which ECCT will not sponsor. If your team is interested in applying for the co-sponsorship cost Submit Form Here
All applications are due August 14, after which we will notify you about the awards.

The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS)
Once again, ECCT is a participating diocese in The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS). Our membership enables your parish to have access to the myriad assets that TENS provides, from the annual theme’s theological statement, timelines, and sample rector/warden letters to Prayers of the People, marketing logos, and sample pledge cards/bulletin inserts.
These excellent materials continue to serve as a critical resource to our parishes, with more than half participating annually. “Rooted in Abundance 2023” is this year’s campaign.

DID YOU KNOW in 1852, abolitionist Frederick Douglass delivered his speech “The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro,” on July 5 at an event commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Rochester, New York?
From the Reparations Task Force
“What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July?... The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity, and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. The sunlight that brought life and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me. This Fourth [of] July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn. To drag a man in fetters into the grand illuminated temple of liberty, and call upon him to join you in joyous anthems, were inhuman mockery and sacrilegious irony. . .It is the birth day of your National Independence, and of your political freedom. This, to you, is what the Passover was to the emancipated people of God.”
(Douglass’ words resonate today. Above is an excerpt from the speech, which totals 18 pages: Read Full Speech Here)
