FMD ECDIS & FAR3000 Chart Radar

Dongle Pairing Procedure Change

December 2, 2022

Service Advisory #2023-17

Dongle Pairing is a process that copies and clones the embedded ENC UP code in the license dongle of an FMD ECDIS or FAR3000 Chart Radar. When multiple ECDIS and/or Chart Radars are ordered and installed on a vessel, having the same (paired) ENC UP code makes it easy for navigators to order and install chart permits and ENC data on up to five separate ECDIS or Chart Radar processors. This pairing should be requested at the time of ordering for all applicable equipment

To ensure these pairing requests are processed and archived accurately, Furuno USA will implement a new dongle pairing policy for all FMD ECIDS and FAR3000 Chart Radars beginning on January 1, 2023. All orders for ECDIS and/or FAR3000 Chart Radars that require dongle pairing should include the part number FMDFARPAIR ($250 List Price). This fee will be assessed per order rather than per processor, and will facilitate pairing for up to 4 processors. Note that the serial number of the processor that will be designated as the MASTER or SOURCE of the ENC UP code should be provided when the order is placed. Once installed, all processors will have the same ENC UP code, allowing charts and permits to be loaded at any processor station.

There is no change to pricing of systems with additional features, such as TCS (Track Control) or AMS (Alert Management System). A full explanation and guide to FMD and FAR dongle functions and upgrades may be found on the individual product pages or by clicking here
