November Update

Thank you to all of our families who joined Trunk or Treat! What a wonderful event here at the church! Our staff and students also had a great time celebrating Halloween during school! We hope you enjoy the photos.

Everyone should have received an email from Wonder Years with a link to your school photos. We have until Thanksgiving to collect a rebate from this fundraiser which is connected to family purchases!

Speaking of photos, please be on the lookout for a link in Brightwheel messages that will take you to a photo permission form for our social media platforms! We will need all families to complete and submit this new form. Thank you!

Our classes are doing great during chapel lessons! Please view the video link below for a message from Jennifer Hills, Director of Discipleship, here at St. John's. I'm also including the month at a glance for our upcoming Chapel Lessons.

9/27: Welcome to Chapel: Introduction/Songs

11/1: Joseph Forgives His Brothers

This week in Chapel, children will hear how God helps Joseph forgive. Joseph’s siblings journey to Egypt hoping to find food for their family. Failing to recognize Joseph, the brothers head home with sustenance and supplies. Heeding Joseph’s early warning, the brothers bring Benjamin when returning to Egypt for food. After testing and trying his brothers, Joseph finally reveals himself to his astonished siblings. Joseph relocates all of Jacob’s family to Egypt, promising to care for them.

11/8: The Birth of Moses

This week in Chapel children will explore the birth of Moses. Three hundred years after the death of Joseph, Egypt’s new pharaoh despises the Hebrews. Pharaoh demands greater work output from the Hebrew slaves while seeking to reduce their population through infanticide. Moses’ mother manages to hide baby Moses until he is three months old when she finally sets him afloat in a basket. Discovered by Pharaoh’s daughter, Moses enters a life of privilege.

11/15: The Giving of the Laws

The account of God giving “The Ten Commandments” to Moses is this week’s Chapel lesson. The children will learn that the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Talk about God’s laws and how they guide us and show us our sin when we cannot keep them. Ask your children, “Who kept the Law perfectly for us?” Though we sin much daily, we have God’s forgiveness because of Christ, His Son.

11/22 and 11/27: David and Goliath and Daniel and the Lion's Den

This week in Chapel, children hear the account “Daniel in the Lions’ Den.”. Daniel chose to obey God and suffer rather than disobey. Jesus saves Daniel from the mouth of the lion and would Himself be given over to the satanic lion to save the world. Parents could ask, “Who did God use to keep Daniel safe? How does God keep us safely with Himself?”

Upcoming Events

We would love to recognize Veterans who are in our ECEC families this year! We did not have many responses for an event, so we will just send home cards or a craft with families. If you have a veteran OR active duty, please fill out the form below.

Please be sure to drop students off in plenty of time to eat breakfast with their class if you want them to eat here at school. When the class breakfast time is over, the teachers need to take the class back downstairs and there is not extra staff to remain with late arrivals. If you drop off at the end of breakfast and your child ate at home, please let the staff know that. We want to make sure children are fed and happy, but we also have to remain on our schedule to accommodate all classes. Thank you!
