JUNETEENTH IS AN OFFICIAL HOLIDAY… FOR 2021!

For the 2021 calendar year, Essex County is awarding all County employees an additional paid holiday celebrating Juneteenth (for June 19, 2021 which falls on a Saturday, the paid day off will be Friday, June 18th).  Lincoln’s Birthday will remain as a paid day off for County employees.

The County states it will reevaluate its financial ability to award this holiday each year thereafter, subject to the language of your Collective Bargaining Agreement and that The Juneteenth holiday addition for 2021 shall not constitute a past practice or set a precedent for future years to come.

The addition of this holiday for 2021 was not the result of negotiations with JNESO and can be revoked at any time at the discretion of the County Administration, subject to the language of your Collective Bargaining Agreement.
