January 2022 News & Updates
Greetings!
As we stand back and look at a new year ahead of us, full of dreams, ideas, and possibilities, we're reflecting on where we've been, what's been accomplished, and what housing and service opportunities we hope are achieved in 2022.
Our Mission
The ECHTF engages and educates our communities about housing and services for preventing and ending homelessness.
We advocate for policies that result in housing and service options appropriate to East County’s range of housing needs.

Thoughts on success and shared goals
Are you in the gap or the gain?
Do you focus on what you have accomplished, the gain, or what is left to do, the gap?
According to Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy in their book The Gap and the Gain, living in the gap leads to persistent feelings of dissatisfaction and discontentment. While living in the gain, assessing, and recognizing what you have accomplished, leads to enthusiasm for your work, life, and the next steps towards reaching your goals.
At the East County Homeless Task Force, we must focus on our gains to keep our motivation for chipping away at what could feel like an overwhelming issue. Thankfully, there has been an exceptional collaboration between agencies and cities in East County. So, what are some of the housing and service gains that occurred in East County last year?
Supervisor Joel Anderson introduced compassionate emergency solutions and pathways to housing for people experiencing homelessness in East County.
Many people and organizations pulled together to establish the forthcoming emergency sleeping cabins project at Meridian Baptist Church in El Cajon.
Omar Passons, Director of the County of San Diego Department of Homeless Solutions, led community conversations to discuss sites in Unincorporated East County suitable for safe parking programs and shelters.
As we go into the New Year, let our progress catapult us towards achieving our next set of goals to ensure everyone who lives here has a place to call home.
