It was sweltering hot while we were in Florida but our delegates did a wonderful job participating in all aspects of the RA, from speaking at the microphone, working on communications, and serving on screening committees. ECOEA SUMMER LEADERSHIOP WORKSHOP
ECOEA held three days of professional development in July. Our Local Leaders Workshop on July 12, was held at RG Drage Career Tech Center and focused on Association leadership with training sessions for Local Treasurers and Local Presidents with 90 registrants and guests. A Building Rep session was held as well as Advocacy and Grievance. Sessions were led by OEA Labor Relations Consultants with OEA Secretary-Treasurer Mark Hill leading the Treasurer session. OEA Labor Relations Consultants provided the association training sessions.
The day's agenda provided time for the local leadership teams to plan for their upcoming year. We welcomed OEA President Scott DiMauro, OEA Vice President Jeff Wensing, as well as OEA Secretary Treasurer Mark HIll to a roundtable lunch where members had an opportunity to chat with the OEA officers about what was going on in their locals.
Later in July, we provided two opportunities for members to attend PD on Zoom. We were able to provide 42 members with 84 hours of Professional Development for attending. Session topics were Dealing with Difficult Behaviors presented by OEA Consultant Daria DeNoia, and Why Your LGBTQ Students Still Need You by GLSEN presenter Gary DiBianca.
