As one of our 8,000 members of a local association within the six counties served by ECOEA (Carroll, Columbiana, Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas or Wayne), you are automatically a member of the East Central OEA District. We provide professional development, conferences, and scholarships that are open to all members.

"HOT TOPIC" VIRTUAL SESSIONS
FOR PD HOURS FOR YOU
Join us on Zoom from wherever you are this summer and pick up some PD hours on topics that are relevant to all educators. Choose one, two, three or all four sessions and earn up to seven hours! No charge, easy registration, door prizes and PD hours. As always, please check with your local Professional Development Committee for approval.

JULY 19 SESSIONS:
  • Trauma-Informed Schools-join OEA Consultant Daria DeNoia as she discusses the effect of childhood trauma on student learning and ways to improve teaching and school climate. (2 hours)
  • Social Justice Resources to Protect LGBTQIA+ Identities-presented by OEA LRC Amelia Woodward, learn more about the diversity of LGBTQIA+ identities in our communities, staff, and students and resources to support social justice. (2 hours)

JULY 28 SESSIONS:
  • STRS Retirement Countdown presented by STRS Assistant Director of Member Education Tamla Cole, general information for those mid-late career teachers who are considering retirement, but also relevant to any STRS member seeking to learn more about retirement. (2 hours)
  • Hackers, Spammers, and Malware, Oh My!-join Stuart Graham of OEA Computer Services for practical and valuable tips to protect your online activity from attack (1 hour)

A full day of association leadership is being planned including internet security, elections training, sessions for both novice and experienced treasurers, and local presidents' training.
OEA President Scott DiMauro, OEA Vice President Jeff Wensing and OEA Secretary Treasurer Mark HIll will all be in attendance.
