Join us from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM for a Special Education Update with Daria DeNoia, OEA Consultant, and receive a 2-hour Professional Development certificate. After a short break to stretch your legs, Stuart Graham from OEA Computer Services will present an engaging and entertaining session on internet scams and ways to recognize the bad guys on the internet for a 1-hour PD session.
9:00 AM-11:00 AM - What's Next for Special Education in Ohio? The national and state special education landscape is unpredictable, causing confusion and uncertainty for Ohio's educators, families, and school districts. Join us to discuss the current federal education landscape and how this affects the implementation and enforcement of IDEA, how Ohio's education policies affect special education service delivery in Ohio, recent changes to Ohio's specially designed instruction rule and how educators and children will be impacted, resources and support that are currently available for the special education community, and advocacy suggestions for anyone who supports a student with special needs.
11:15 AM-12:00 PM - 2026 Online Safety--Enter Your SSN for Tips and Tricks! Hackers are hiding behind every link, email, and website. The bad guys are watching and attacking you in ways you don’t even know. Keeping yourself safe online in 2026 doesn’t need to be difficult. Spend 45 minutes with Stuart from OEA Computer Services for some SIMPLE tips and tricks to keep yourself safe online.
Both sessions are free, and you will receive a PD certificate for hours attended. We will have some door prizes, too! We look forward to seeing your sunny faces at the end of July before you head back to school!

Are you interested in becoming more involved in ECOEA? We are looking to fill two vacancies, Carroll County and Holmes County representatives, to our ECOEA Executive Committee. You must be a member of a local in Carroll or Holmes County to be eligible for one of these positions. Being a county representative entails attending Executive Committee meetings at our office at 129 Easton NE, Canton, near Walsh College, and being the link between ECOEA and the locals in your county. Executive Committee meetings are generally held the second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 pm, 7 times during the year. We will also be having an orientation meeting at the Akron-Canton Foodbank, Stark campus, on August 3. We provide dinner at each meeting and mileage to attend.
If interested, please email ECOEA at ecoea@sbcglobal.net and someone will reach out to you.

NEA RA Denver 2026
Thank you to the delegates, active and retired, who gave up a week of their summer to do the work of the association on the national level in Denver. Our delegates did us proud, serving on screening committees, voting, speaking at the microphone both for and against New Business Items, Constitutional Amendments, and Resolutions.
Our delegates were fully engaged in the work of the RA as well as networking with other delegates from across Ohio and the US. They rose early for 7 AM Ohio caucuses, and then spent extra long hours in their seats on the RA floor--8 and 9 hours a day! They were simply amazing!
