ECOEA PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I hope your summer is off to a good start and you are able to take a break and find ways to recharge.
As you will read in this newsletter the work of the Association does not take a break in the summer. We woud love to have you join us at our Professional Development sessions this summer. It is an easy way to earn some PD hours!
This summer there is a statewide special election on August 8. Issue 1 is a critical issue affecting all members. Special interest groups have funded this campaign to try to take away our rights and end majority rule in Ohio. They are counting on a low voter turnout to eliminate our freedom to make decisions. Set a reminder to vote on August 8 or Request an Absentee Ballot today.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the ECOEA president for the last seven years. I have been able to work with many amazing leaders throughout ECOEA. We have dedicated educators who are willing to show up and do the work of our District. ECOEA is lucky to have Val Heban as our Business Manager. She does so much work behind the scenes advocating for ECOEA and our members. Thank you to Julie Holderbaum, Minerval Local, for serving as our Vice President. I appreciate her efforts chairing our Program and Finance Committees. I look forward to continuing to be involved in ECOEA and know that Juliann Doerschuck, Canton Professional EA, Heather Zuniga Malvern EA, and Kelli Repphun, Jackson Memorial EA, will continue serve the members of ECOEA in their new leadership positions for the 2023-2024 year.
In solidarity,
Julie Nelson
ECOEA President
