IT'S DELEGATE ELECTION TIME!
Each fall, delegates to the OEA Representative Assembly are elected by their local associations. These delegates are the voice of your local in the governance of the Ohio Education Association. Those delegates are also automatic delegates to the ECOEA Representative Assembly. Each local association is entitled to at least one delegate and the delegate allocation is proportional to the number of members.
The delegate election must take place by October 10, with results reported to OEA by October 15.
Delegates (or their alternates) have four commitments. OEA will hold a one-day Fall Representative Assembly in Columbus on Saturday, December 3. ECOEA is not having a Fall RA, but will hold a virtual delegate briefing on Saturday, November 19, on Zoom. In the Spring, the OEA Spring Representative Assembly will be held in Columbus on May 12-13, 2023. The ECOEA Spring RA will be held in person in Canton on Saturday, April 29.
ECOEA offers a one-time incentive grant of $250 to locals who have not elected delegates in the past five years. See the information on the ECOEA website for this grant. Be sure that your local is represented. Elections matter!

Local Associations who elected and sent delegates to the ECOEA RA in the 2021-2022 year are eligible to apply for grants up to $500 to use in their community to enhance the image of the association. Pictured is a student athlete in the Chippewa community who benefited from the support supplied by the Chippewa Education Association from an ECOEA PR grant.
|
The North Canton Education Association used their ECOEA Public Relations grant to purchase a paver for the Legacy Campaign to improve Memorial Stadium, which after 75 years, will be replaced. The pavers will make up Legacy Landing which recognizes those in the community that donated to the project.
Public Relations grants give your association an opportunity to be recognized as a community supporter.

Malvern Education Association used their PR Grant to show the Malvern community that MEA supports their athletes with signs at their football stadium and in their gymnasium.
ECOEA encourages local associations to participate in the governance of ECOEA and OEA by electing delegates each fall and sending them to the ECOEA and OEA Rep Assemblies. Be sure your local has a voice by electing delegates!
