ECOT’S WILLIAM LAGER IS AMONG OHIO’S BIGGEST POLITICAL DONORS
Ever wonder why the ECOT Man brokered an agreement with the state that allowed ECOT to monitor its own enrollment?
When the state finally audited ECOT enrollment participation, it was determined ECOT had overcharged $60 million in one year alone. How did Mr. Lager get away with theft in plain sight for years and years? Was not there at least one state official who was prone to trigger an investigation? An Auditor? An Attorney General? A Governor? A Legislator? A State superintendent? A State Board Member?
In a March 7 Columbus Dispatch Special Report, William Lager, the ECOT Man, is listed among 16 of Ohio’s top political donors (2011-2018). Weighing in at $869,000 in political donations, Mr. Lager was able to collect hundreds of millions for students not being served. A largely unregulated charter industry and political payoffs allowed this theft of tax funds.
A former ECOT employee indicated that he overheard a conversation between Mr. Lager and a candidate for State Auditor. The two agreed that a robust ECOT contribution to the candidate would be mutually beneficial.
