Space is Critical
In art, it creates depth and a place to rest. In life, it provides us with opportunities to feel safe and to grow. One of the things I love most about our guild is the space it makes for all of us. Whether you are a new quilter or someone with years of
experience, there is space for you. No matter the types of quilts you are comfortable creating, or the types of quilts you aspire to make, there is space for you. Art is transformational, and so are the meaningful connections you are making in our guild. Being seen, being accepted, and being valued is a lifeline for all of us.

It all began with a Spider Web Quilt in 2007. What started as a single quilt quickly became an ongoing series as new ideas flowed faster than Jean could make them. As she says, "When one thing leads to another, and you find something that clicks, you have to keep at it. Maybe that's what you call a series?"

The ECQG Community Service projects are going well thanks to all of our members. We know summer vacations and family events are keeping you busy so we especially appreciate your sewing time committed to us.
We have requests for holiday- and specialty-themed items, e.g., pillowcases and place mats. Prepare now for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, and Hanukkah. Even holiday quilts are welcome.
We have updated our webpage with the link and description for our Quilts For Cops project Quilts For Cops.
Remember, we are having a Sewcial on August 26. You can bring your own project or help us with kits. We leave no one without something to do. It is also a great way to spend time with friends and meet new ones too.

A total of 148 members attended our July Meeting, while 47 members attended the Evening Meeting.
Our membership to date is 404 members. We welcome new and returning members at any time. To join, click on our Join Us link and follow the instructions. Dues are only $25 for the remainder of 2026. You can join online, by mail, or at the July meeting.

What is Groups.io?
Groups.io is an easy-to-use online communication platform that works directly with something you already use every day—email. Members will be able to send and receive group messages without needing to visit another website or learn a complicated new system regularly.
Groups.io will help members:
- Receive Guild announcements and timely updates.
- Ask questions and exchange helpful quilting information.
- Share ideas, resources, photos, and upcoming opportunities.
- Connect more easily with fellow ECQG members.
- Search past conversations and information in one convenient location.
- Choose how frequently group messages are delivered by email.
Member Training Sessions:
Two live Zoom training sessions will be offered to introduce Groups.io, demonstrate how it works, and explain what members can expect:
Wednesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m.
Thursday, September 3, at 7:00 p.m.
Both sessions will cover the same information. The training will also be recorded and made available afterward for members who are unable to attend.
We look forward to using Groups.io to make ECQG communication easier, more timely, and more engaging for everyone!

Golden Scissors' popularity increased in July with the submission of seven quilts! Perhaps the summer heat is keeping us in our sewing rooms to finish up these large projects. We hope to see even more quilts next month!
Pat Kilmark submitted "Klaudeen's Diamonds" at 309."
Michele Bautsch's Quilt for Cops measured 288."
Vicki Roark's 286" quilt was titled "Muse."
Nora Whisenant made two quilts, "Walking Trails" at 314" and "Slide Show" at 308."
Ruth Chow's quilt was 380" and was named "Blue Ridge Beauty."
Margaret Williams' quilt, "Improv Square in a Square," was 402."
Good work, ladies, on your beautiful large quilts!
