What lovely quilts! I was so touched to receive the two beautiful President’s quilts at our December luncheon. Thank you all so much for your hard work, and special thanks to Chris and Jan for coordinating this effort. The magnificent quilt pictured here will be entered as a group quilt in the Georgia Celebrates Quilts show, and the snuggle quilt will be put to good use on our sofa. It was an honor serving as your president, and I know I leave you in excellent hands with our new president, Chris Ison. Thank you!

| | Celebrating 250 Years of Inspirational American Women Through Quilts | | On January 10th, our Matriotism exhibit will begin a three-month run at the Atlanta History Center (AHC) in Buckhead. The AHC selected 21 quilts for this exhibition, primarily representing women with Georgia connections. This AHC exhibit will be displayed in the museum’s lobby and runs through March 29. For more information on the Matriotism Quilt Exhibit, please go to Matriotism - East Cobb Quilters' Guild on our website. | | Members interested in becoming an ambassador (docent) for any of our venues, please go to Matriotism Ambassadors - East Cobb Quilters' Guild for details. If you have any questions about the Matriotism exhibits, please send an email to matriotism@ecqg.com for assistance. | | JANUARY PROGRAMS - COMMUNITY SERVICE | | |
|
Don’t miss our Community Service Celebration in January! The year 2025 proved to be a generous one for us; the Guild created 8,200 donated items, and we will celebrate all the beautiful work our members have done for the community. Representatives from some of our partners will be at the meeting to share stories and answer your questions. We will also acknowledge our Guild superstars!
As in previous years, the meeting will culminate in our annual Parade of Quilts and other donations. So, get to that machine and finish up your Community Service projects! We want to show them off and celebrate our fabulous members!
Click here for all the information about our Community Service work. Questions? Contact Glenda, Sue, and Joanna.
| | QUILT ALLIANCE MEMBERSHIP | | | | In 1993, four visionary women came together to found the Quilt Alliance, a non-profit organization created to establish ways for preserving quilt stories. The Quilt Alliance vision statement is simple: No More Anonymous Quilters. | | |
The Quilt Alliance hosts events on quilt documentation and maintains an archive of recorded quilt stories. Two wonderful grassroots resources are the Quilters Save Our Stories, an oral history project and Go Tell It, a video documentation project. Anyone can contribute to them!
With our Guild-level membership, each ECQG member is eligible for a free Quilt Alliance Affiliate Membership, which entitles you to free registration for workshops on quilt documentation projects. Members can also access the extensive recordings archive, including 38 episodes of StoryBee interviews.
To obtain an individual membership (at the Friendship level), access this link. Bypass the $35 fee by entering the coupon code listed in the Members Only section of the ECQG website. Learn more at our Lunchbox Live event on Saturday, January 31!
| | LUNCHBOX LIVE with the QUILT ALLIANCE | | |
|
Bring your lunch and socialize at the Lunchbox Live event on January 31 from 12:00-2:00 pm! Also open to non-members, this event will be held at the East Cobb Government Center. Invite a friend!
After lunch, we'll connect with the Quilt Alliance for a live virtual presentation titled, The BackStory: The Hidden Stories of Quilts and How to Keep Them from Fading Away. It begins with an inspirational story and explains the Quilt Alliance offerings for documenting quilts. To register for this event, go to: East Cobb Quilters' Guild - Lunchbox Live.

| | | | We learned the theme for our 2026 Quilt Challenge at the December Holiday Parties. The inspiration for your Challenge Quilt this year is the name and color of the mystery paint chip found inside the envelope you choose. If you’d like to sign up and select an envelope, please look for Challenge Advisor, Alexa Morrison, at either the day or evening meeting in January. | | | | |
On November 9, 2025, ECQG's Phoenix Sewing Bee presented four "Quilted Hugs of Gratitude" they created in support of Quilts for Veterans. This event occurred at the Central Congregational United Church of Christ (where the Phoenix Sewing Bee is hosted).
In this photo, ECQG's Adele Swanson presents one of the four quilts to a veteran of the Vietnam War.

A total of 104 members attended our December Holiday Party and Annual Meeting, while 24 members attended the Evening Group’s December Potluck.
We ended 2025 with 378 members and have now started our annual membership drive! Almost half of you have already renewed. But if you haven’t done so, please renew now to avoid a lapse in the many privileges of membership. And we certainly welcome new members!
To renew, click on our Join Us link and follow the instructions. We will switch to the 2026 members list on February 1, so don’t delay. You can renew online, by mail, or at the January meetings.
Questions about membership? Email Denise Cornett.
