If nothing else, bask in the glorious healing power of color therapy – maybe focus on the cool side of the color wheel this month!

Deborah Boschert lectures and teaches workshops with artist groups and quilt guilds all over the US and internationally. She offers opportunities to explore fused appliqué, print making on fabric, and personal symbols. Her workshops provide students with both structure and creative flexibility. She is known for her organization, enthusiastic spirit and encouraging vibe.
Deborah is the author of Art Quilt Collage: A Creative Journey in Fabric, Paint and Stitch. She has appeared on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show and is published in several books and magazines. Deborah is an artist, author and teacher who creates art quilt collages with layers of fabric, paint and stitching. Her artwork makes a visual impact from across the room. Her art quilt collages often include personal symbols like ladders, chairs and bowls. She uses stitch as a design element. The shapes, compositions, lines and textures in her work serve as metaphors for ideas and themes including growth, transition, rest and curiosity.

Celebrating 250 Years of Inspirational American Women Through Quilts
Our Matriotism exhibit was so well received at Georgia Celebrates Quilts! Visitors were not only overwhelmed by the beauty and creativity of the quilts, but they were also drawn to the history and stories behind them. Thank you to the members who helped us transfer, hang and take down this exhibit at the Civic Center.
The entire Matriotism exhibit – all 62 quilts - is now being shown through August 5th at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum (SQTM) in Carrollton. Please bring your friends and family to see your work. Beginning November 7th, 24 Matriotism quilts will be displayed for a three month period at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA.

| | COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS | | |
The ECQG Community Service projects are going well thanks to all of our members. We know summer vacations and family events are keeping you busy so we especially appreciate your sewing time committed to us.
We have requests for holiday and specialty-themed items, i.e., pillow cases and place mats. Prepare now for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, and Hanukkah. Even holiday quilts are welcome.
We have updated our webpage with the link and description for our Quilts For Cops project Quilts For Cops.
Remember we are having a Sewcial on August 26. You can bring your own project or help us with kits. We leave no one without something to do. It is also a great way to spend time with friends and meet new ones too.

July: Donation Project Needed
We are once again collecting sewing items for Central Gwinnett High School. This month, they need fleece, thread, scissors, marking pens and chalk. If you have these items and want to share, please bring them to the July meetings. There will be drop boxes near the Membership table. Please limit your generous donations to the listed items only.
REMINDER: please keep working on our primary project...QUILTS. There is an endless need.
The Community Service Co-chairs, Glenda Jones, Joanna Miller, and Sue Schultz, want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your wonderful support! We truly appreciate your involvement and look forward to working together to make a difference!

Our membership to date is 397 members. We welcome new and returning members at any time. To join, click on our Join Us link and follow the instructions. Dues are only $25 for the remainder of 2026. You can join online, by mail, or at the July meeting.

Library Highlight: It’s Not Just for Crazy Quilts Anymore
A recent trend seen in quilts is the addition of hand stitching. It can be as simple as a running stitch in Perle cotton. Other quilts are embellished with a multitude of different stitches in a variety of threads. If you would like to start experimenting with decorative hand stitching the library has many books from which to choose. Here are just a few:

| | | | Two delightful quilts were awarded Golden Scissors at the June meeting. The "Lavender and Lupine" quilt by Joyce had lovely pastel colors in it. Judy was awarded Golden Scissors for "Vineyard Rings," Judy's is the largest quilt submitted so far this year, measuring 446 inches! Congratulations to you both! | | To qualify for Golden Scissors, your quilt must be at least 280 inches around the perimeter, be made entirely by one person, and be submitted within one year of completion. A Golden Thimble will be awarded if that same quilt is hand-quilted. | | | | |
