They say March comes in like a lion…
There's a lot of activity for ECQG quilters this month and finishing our quilt show entries is likely at the top of many a list! They also say March goes out like a lamb… so keep the faith… you'll get there!
As we prepare for our biennial quilt show this summer, our program this month is hosted by two longtime guild members, Mary Ellen Von Holt and Libby Lowe. They have been an integral part of our show from the very beginning and will share stories (and maybe a secret or two) from the past… It's sure to be a meeting to remember!

Thank you to everyone who brought a donation for the St. Ann Food Pantry in February! We're going to do it again this month, so please consider bringing something with you to the March meeting – drop boxes will be near the Membership Table. Click Here for the list of needed items.
Sew until we see each other again,

There is still time to see the Matriotism quilt exhibit at the Atlanta History Center (AHC), which runs through March 29. We plan to participate in the Museum's homeschool program on March 19 with special quilt-related projects for the kids. Please note that the special exhibit, the "Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation," sponsored by the National Archives, opens at the AHC on March 27. As a result, admission will be free of charge from March 27 to 29th. This is a great opportunity to see all the exhibits that the AHC has to offer, including the Matriotism Quilts, at no cost.
| |
Our next stop is the Alpharetta City Hall, where our exhibition opens on April 3, 178 S Main Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
City Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 to 5:00, and on Fridays, 8:30 to 4:30. The City Hall is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
The City has selected 42 quilts for this exhibit, which will be on display through May 29. We are planning a Family and Friends reception on April 9, 2026, at 1pm-3pm, so stay tuned for details.
| | |
After Alpharetta, we will be exhibiting all the Matriotism quilts at the Georgia Celebrates Quilts Show, June 4th - 6th. Please note that if you wish to enter your Matriotism quilt to be juried in the ECQG Quilt Show, you must fill out an application form and submit it to Carolyn Powers by March 27.
Enter a Quilt in the Georgia Celebrates Quilts® Quilt Show
The remaining quilts will be displayed together at the Quilt Show and will not require a QS application.
After the Quilt Show, our exhibit will be on display at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum in Carrollton, GA, from June 20 through August 5. Details on that exhibit will be coming soon.
| | | | Hopefully, everyone is excited about the 2026 Mystery Paint Chip Challenge. There's been some buzz from Guild members who have already started planning their quilt! If you have not gotten your paint chip, please see Alexa Morrison, Challenge Advisor, at the next guild meeting. | | EVENING GROUP - IMAGINATION STATION | | | | |
Last Month's Imagination Station
Mini Challenge
The Thursday night group had a great time last month with our inaugural Imagination Station mini challenge. Our own Ben Hollingsworth impressed us all with a wonderfully creative version of the Morton Salt girl, right down to her catch phrase, "When it rains, it pours".
| | |
Our next month's Imagination Station prompt is …. COFFEE
That's right, using coffee as your inspiration, come up with a quickly assembled mini quilt. We would love to collect postcards for our quilt show fundraiser, so anything 4" by 6" would be ideal. Think of coffee mugs, coffee pots, coffee beans, and/or coffee color?
Don't usually attend the Evening Group meeting? Take the challenge and join us! Questions? Contact Rose Haisty.

Pick up Kits at the March meetings!
Volunteers are working hard making kits for teddy bears, flannel blankets, standard pillowcases, NICU pillowcases, and quilt kits. Patterns are on the website.
Especially needed from Members -
Sewn Teddy Bears!
Atlanta's Northside Hospital Auxiliary provides approximately 90 Welcome Bags per month to parents of babies being admitted to the NICU. These bags are geared to comfort the parents and typically include a teddy bear. Please consider picking up some Teddy Bear Kits from the Community Service table at the March meeting or using the pattern and directions on our website to support this effort. Here is a link to the Teddy Bear pattern.
Thank you!
Community Service Team,
Joanna Miller, Sue Schultz,
Glenda Jones, and our special group of Volunteers
We are ready to route your donations to our Community Service partners.

| | | GOLDEN SCISSORS & THIMBLES | | |
Golden Scissors
Congratulations to Beth Wallace and Nora Whisenant on receiving a Golden Scissors for their quilts displayed at the February Day meeting. Beth's quilt, "Covid Sanctuary," measured 302 inches, while Nora's quilt, "3-Layer Cake," measured 280 inches. Well done!
Remember, to earn a Golden Scissors award, your quilt must be at least 280 inches around the perimeter. It must be made entirely by one person and presented within one year of completion. If the quilt is hand-quilted, the quilter also receives a Golden Thimble.
